Mason next? and player linked with City

Cardiff City have their fifth player in and still room for more as manager Malky Mackay waits on news on Plymouth striker Joe Mason who is expected to join the Bluebirds? In today's South Wales Echo, they are linking midfielder Alexei Eremenko to the club. If true, the midfield at the Cardiff City Stadium is becoming very crowded.

Cardiff and Plymouth are reported to have agreed a fee for Mason of £250,000 he is reported to have rejected a £300,000 transfer to Swindon Town in the January transfer window. He was a rumour to have been seen at the Vale training centre along with new signing Icelandic midfielder Aron Gunnarsson and another unknown player (who could have been Eremenko?) awaiting medical's.

Peter Ridsdale owner of Plymouth said,

"Regrettably, if we have players of value, we are using that to get from where we are now to getting the new company formed.

"This football club has not had any money to fund the administration process and ensure we make the last leap to getting the league share.

"We need to make sure we have cash for staff and to get new players in.

"When I spoke to Joe, he made it absolutely clear he wanted to pursue this opportunity."

Alexei Eremenko was on loan with Kilmarnock last season and has been release from is club Metalist Kharkiv on a free transfer. Earlier in the week, the Sun newspaper was suggesting a move to Celtic, Rangers, or a move to an unnamed La Liga club for the midfielder.
