Aussie plod couring a bit of a storm

Will the South Wales Police follow their Australian counter parts Victoria Police and use Twitter to broadcast evictions from tonight’s fixture against Celtic.

During Celtic’s game against Melbourne Victory police coursed outraged by tweeting a score of fans been evicted during the game one read “Game about to start with one person already evicted from the ground. What a waste of ticket money!” another “Score still nil nil. Evictions four,” read another.
At the end of the game someone from Victoria Police tweeted a final score for the game “Game over. Celtics 1 – Police 14”.

The problem was that fans were reading the updates and were not happy even after it was revealed the tweets were not authorised by senior police. Fans were urged to make official complaints to Victoria Police about the five tweets..

“Massive PR fail for @VictoriaPolice tonight - doing their image no favors whatsoever,” @DejanKalinic said.
“Wonder which genius at @VictoriaPolice media authorized tonight's eviction tweets. Community policing it ain't,” @reynoldsgf tweeted.

Inspector Mick Beattie apologised to fans saying,

"It casts soccer supporters in a negative light when in fact last nights game went extremely well last night.
“There was no checking between media and the operations arm as to what was going out was suitable. This was not suitable.”
