According to The Evening Chronicle Cardiff City are keen on taking Newcastle United defender James Perch on a season long loan with a possible option on a permanent deal according to the article. Cardiff's Championship rivals Leicester City are also keen on the defender.
Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay is in the market for a defender, but said a few days ago, there was no rush and he did not expect to sign anyone before the start of the season.
Perch missed Newcastle's tour of America he instead toured with the reserves in Holland with it looking odds on he is not in the Newcastle bosses plans for next season. He joined the North East club in July last year from Nottingham Forest coming through their youth system signing for an undisclosed fee, on a 4-year deal.
His season with Newcastle has not been spectacular only starting 11 games in total and off the bench four times. He did break one Premier League record last season, the first player ever to receive five yellow cards in his first five games in the league.
