Victory, victory we have a victory and a giant weight have been lifted from the shoulders of all fans of Cardiff City.
The home team came out with a point to prove and that came out fight from the start of the half until half-time. It was Criag Bellamy who was having a blinder of a game who put the Bluebirds ahead in the 10th minute. In half there could have been a few more goals but for keeper Kasper Schmeichel who made a number of fine saves. The first half was totally in the control of Cardiff.
At the start of the second half Leeds looked to give a better show and it was a double substitution was the catalyst to Leeds goal minutes later. Leeds then tried to pile the pressure my Cardiff just soaked it up before it was turned around with City looking for the winner. Step-up Michael Chopra's with 11 minutes remaining to fire home the winner.
What a difference a few days make, destroyed at Watford 4-1 then shamed at Bristol City 3-0 but today an all new Cardiff City back second after a great win over Leeds United 2-1. We need some consonantly especially if the goal is automatic promotion.
The players are widely report to have been annoyed with the calls from fans for the sacking of manager Dave Jones if that’s what it takes for the players to play as a unit ‘Jones Out’ all the time for me.
Cardiff maybe second again but only by goal difference with Norwich and Swansea on the number of points (43) meaning there can be any slip-ups because soon or later it will hurt.
The Cardiff City manager Dave Jones was ecstatic with the win over Leeds who came into the game with 12-match unbeaten run. It was Cardiff’s first home and away win of the season.
After the match the Cardiff boss said:
"It was a strong performance and all wins are good. But we were totally dominant apart from the time they scored their wonder goal."I have nothing but admiration for the players who have worked hard despite the illness that has run through the camp."Two of the players out there have been ill and we even lost one of the substitutes during the warm-up but the players dug deep and came through."We have not been at the races in our last two games and performances were not acceptable but it did not warrant the press speculation as the stories printed should be backed up and checked but they never are."All we concentrate on is getting this sort of performance every week."We thrashed Leeds away yet they have been on a fantastic run since that game. We have just won one game and must go on to the next and produce the same."This is a hard division and there are no easy games but as long as we stay strong we will turn it round and I have never given up on anything."
