Welcone newbie |
Cardiff City have a new loan signing with City boss Dave Jones swooping for Arsenal striker/winger Jay Emmanuel-Thomas until the end of the season.
Emmanuel-Thomas is a product of the Arsenal youth system. He has been loaned out before with stays at Blackpool and Doncaster. He scored six goals while out on loan last season at the two formation clubs scoring five of them while with Doncaster, playing more games for them as well. While playing in the Championship last season in some 25 games he managed to miss playing against the Bluebirds.
It now means Jones has six loans signing the others been, Andy Keogh, Jason Koumas, Craig Bellamy, Danny Drinkwater and Seyi Olofinjana leaving him with a problem. He can only have five loan players in the matchday squad, someone will miss out unless he plans to send one back to there club.
Of cause fans will be surprised that the City boss has brought in another striker when before the opening of the January transfer window is main concern seemed to be defence. The forward line is getting a bit crowded with Jay Bothroyd Michael Chopra, new signing Jon Parking and youngster Nathaniel Jarvis vying with loan signings Andy Keogh, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Craig Bellamy.
Like a lot of young players in the bigger club it is difficult to break into the first team when stepping up for the youth/academy football. He was out on loan last season this season has managed to play four times for Arsenal, all off the bench, all with less than ten minutes to go before full time.
