Ex-City Capaldi could be on his way to Scotland

It took a while but Ex-Cardiff City defender Tony Capaldi looks to be a wanted man. After a number of false starts he spent time on trial with Plymouth Argyle, Crystal Palace and SLP club Hearts. He found a both hole signing a short term deal with Morecambe back in September which ends on Monday according to press reports.

He spent two days with Aberdeen on trial last week and is expected to train with the Scottish club again this week. During his trial last week he impressed boss Craig Brown who said,
“I know Sammy McIlroy well and he knows a player when he sees one. Capaldi is highly regarded, so it does not surprise me Sammy wants to keep him.
“It is a reasonable standard there but he is back this week and we will see if the budget can stretch far enough."
Morecambe want to keep their man with manager Sammy McIlroy saying,
“I am trying to persuade Tony to stay with me.
“Tony is a good player. We gave him a chance and he has taken it. I know Tony well from my Northern Ireland days.
“He came here not fully fit but we have worked on him. Tony has worked hard since coming here and I will be talking to him about staying."
Capaldi was release by the Bluebirds in the summer after his career nosedive. It started so well for him went he first signed in 2007/8 he was constantly in the first team. The following season he played only five times for the City. His last season saw him he was picking up the odd game main off the bench he was then loaned out to Leeds before Christmas on a short term loan.

It was rumour that Cardiff boss Dave Jones was going to off load him in January, but all the trouble with the club unable to bring in new faces saw Jones decided to keep hold of him.
