Looking forward to next season

I am now excited about next season that's now quick I have forgotten about today. We are not in the Premiership so I have no interest in it. I am ready for the new era without ex-Cardiff City boss Dave Jones and excited over whom will be the new boss.

Whoever comes in they will have to hit floor running with little time to catch his breath. There is a rumour that the new manager could come via a promotion from the present coaching staff with the possibility of Craig Bellamy coming in as coach pending on talks with Manchester City. There is an urgency to replenish the squad with new players after 12 players left at the end of the season.

I feel in my bones next season will be no push over in the Championship but one thing any new boss must do is secure automatic promotion no messing with the play-offs. There are six new teams in the Championship next season Birmingham, Blackpool and West Ham relegated from the Premier League with their parachute players looking for an instant return to the top table.

Has for last season teams Reading and Nottingham Forest will be a danger and will be hoping to go one better than a play-off place. As for the rest they will all be looking to do better and while Cardiff stall they are strengthening their squads. Leeds, Burnley, Millwall, Leicester, Hull, Middlesbrough, Ipswich, Watford, Bristol City, Portsmouth, Barnsley, Coventry, Derby, Crystal Palace and Doncaster will be looking for a more fruitful 2011/12 season.

Then there are the three who won promotion from Division One Brighton, Southampton and Peterborough they will be hoping to emulate promoted Norwich and gain a double promotion.

Congrats to the men from the West

So it's a muted well done from a Cardiff City fan to Swansea and that really hurts. They should enjoy their season in the sun of the Premier League because without even a kick of a ball the bookies have them favourites for relegation back to the Championship. I lived with Swansea in the top league before no problem doing it again.

I hope the chairman who runners a tight ship is ready for all the wage demands and agents looking to make a quick buck of his club for their players and themselves. Seeing as Swansea have renamed themselves Swanselona I was wondering if Manchester United is quaking in their boot at playing you next season.

Nice to see our old Alan Tate could not find a flag for the cameras this time and it was nice to see the players pay tribute to there ex teammate Besian Idrizaj who died last May.

Only a little bit of banter get a life

My caravan banter has gone down like a lead balloon with our friends from the West. Well toughen up and grow up and get some balls. I don't give a shit about this Welsh crap and the good of Wales, for the good of Swansea yes, but I will still be hoping for a Reading win.

Like Swansea fans were rooting for Cardiff against Blackpool last season. I bet few Jacks would be sitting thinking it would be good for Welsh football if Cardiff City were to win and have been promoted to the Premiership.

Jealousy has been mentioned in some of the printable comments. Can I simply ask how jealousy you were last season to the run up to kick off. If you win today good luck for next season, but remember all those Blackpool fans jumping for joy talking it big just a year ago, where are they next season.

Bye Dave ... Welcome WHO

Yes he has gone and I can stay I'm unhappy with the news. I was only writing this morning how his report card from last season was an F- for failure. To win around the fans he would need an A+ for next season if he were to stay.

Cardiff's chief executive Gethin Jenkins, said of the official website,

"We would like to thank Dave Jones for his considerable efforts with the club over the past six seasons. He leaves his post in the knowledge that he has left the club in a far better position than when he arrived. Dave's tenure has seen Cardiff City Football Club develop from a standpoint of Championship stability through to becoming regular promotion contenders, while also having taken the team to an FA Cup Final.

"His efforts in the recruitment and development of players also meant that the sale of these players at times enabled the club to survive. He has also had a significant contribution in the development of training facilities and the stadium during his Cardiff City career. We thank him for all that he has done and achieved with the club and wish him well for the future."

There have been plenty of good times with Jones, but the failure to make it great was one of his problems. FA Cup final against Portsmouth were one, but we ended up losers the same with the play- off final losers again. This season we had automatic promotion in our grasp, but it slipped through the fingers of Cardiff and there was this season play-off disaster. Six years was enough, we have been the bridesmaid far too often and not the bride. I wish Dave Jones all the best with is next venture as I don't see him on the beach for too long.

So the speculation over the next manager begins and there will be a host full getting their CV out and giving it a dusting. Some of the likely and unlikely

Craig Bellamy
Chris Hughton
Roberto Di Matteo
Gary Megson
Gordon Strachan
Paul Ince
Aidy Boothroyd
Gianfranco Zola
Alan Curbishley
Hope Powell
John Toshack
Ray Wilkins
Roy Keane
Sam Allardyce
Ryan Giggs

Who would I go for, I would like Bellamy because of his passion you would expect no team of his to sit back and kick the ball around aimlessly, but he has no managerial experience could do the job has coach with an experience boss to learn off. I like the idea of Ray Wilkins who was No 2 at Chelsea for years and has a black book loaned with footballing contacts.

At the end of the day it will be down to Gethin Jenkins and the club's director Alan Whiteley who the club confirmed as leading the search for a new manager. I think a panel of ex-Cardiff City players and one or two members of the supporter's club should do the searching.

Jones report card, must do better

According to the South Wales Echo manager Dave Jones has been asked to draw up his plans for next season, but that doesn't mean he's got the job. His report card for last season would be an F- for a failure because automatic promotion was his for the taking, but it slip way embarrassingly. For his mock exam this week he will be hoping for an A+ and hope for the same result at the end of next season if he can sell it to the board.

The decision will hopefully happen by the end of the week with the paper suggesting the club is eyeing former Newcastle boss Chris Hughton and ex-Charlton chief Alan Curbishley among others has possible replacements.

He has been asked to give the Malaysians an outline budget on players he would like to bring in along with the possible costs fee and wages. It would be interesting to see if Jones plans will depend heavily on loan signings next season if caused some problems last season because of the numbers mainly. He will probably go for free signings and maybe a few transfers that will involve fees.

Cardiff City' chief executive Gethin Jenkins has been in talks with Dave Jones reviewing what many regard has the failure of last season and the plans for next season before the Malaysians and the board decide on their plans. By the end of the week in will be nearly three since the end of the season for Cardiff, but nearly four weeks for our rivals in the Championship next season. While at Cardiff time is standing still other clubs are in the transfer market doing deals that might have interested Dave Jones or any new boss.

One thing for sure if Dave Jones does stay boss he will have a hard time winning around the majority of fans at the club.

Mixed fortunes Down-Under for the Cardiff's

South Cardiff came off second best when they made the trip to top of the table Broadmeadow Magic. The home team were 3-0 winners.

Fans comments on the game ..... First half was a dour affair with magic missing a couple of opportunities including an open goal. Second half magic just took complete control and ran riot. There passing and build up play is easily the best in the league and was truly on display yesterday. Southy never truly got their foot in the game and I can't remember them really even testing Carter bar long range shots. It seems when Southy go down a couple of goals they continue to resort to long ball tactics, frustrating to watch, but I still think magic would have won regardless.

Cardiff City FC continued form see them stay top of the Northern NSW Zone Premier League. They beat third place Newcastle University FC 2-0. Next weekend the will be another top of the table clash when Cooks Hill UFC travel to Cardiff City FC ground Cardiff Oval No2.

Something I like about the league set-up you have among in these leagues is the whole match day. They don't just play the senior game they also play Under 23' and reserves the same day making it a grand day out for a football fan. Is it something that could look into over here? Next season when Cardiff play Barnsley away why can the academy and reserves also travel and the same when teams travel to Cardiff.

Tate's Crib

Alan Tate invited Sports Wales to check out his luxurious crib at Swansea Caravan Park.

Decision wanted and soon

Has the board at Cardiff City sit back unable to make a decision or even make a statement on when they will make a decision the fans sit back left to stew. Will it be tomorrow, this week or next or never? Time is ticking and before long it will be pre-season. I find it incredible the lack speed in dealing with last season failed to win promotion?

With the Malaysians are on the other side of the world, but video conferencing is popular so there is no real excuse for not getting a meeting together. It opens the door for loads of speculation and if you read the messageboard just about everything has been covered.

So why after three weeks do fans still don't know if Cardiff City boss Dave Jones will be going or staying. Another clubs can sack a manager within hours of the end of the game, at half time or even on the coach on the way home? Word on the street is it could be something to do with money these days in football it's nearly always about money. Hanging round can be just has costly with players the club might want to sign are probably being snapped up by other clubs.

The club as just two pre-season games lined up so after and no conformation if there will be the big end of pre-season game against top European opposition. Will there be a tour after the Malaysian trip was cancelled? They are leaving late for fans who would like to go on the tour.

The draw for the first round of the Carling Cup will take place on the 16 June followed the next day with the league fixtures. It's only 73 day to the start of the new Championship season.

Bothroyd and Whittingham rumour

Sunday rumours involving Cardiff City have the rumour mill turning a bit faster. In the News of the world they have Jay Bothroyd on the verge of signing for Everton while in the Sunday Mirror he has agreed terms. It would be a good move for the striker if the story is true better than Celtic who ex-City star Joe Ledley has been plugging in the press.

Everton boss David Moyes is reported to be his offer in first with Sunderland, Fulham and Celtic in the wings also interested if paper reports are to believe. With a small transfer budget the Everton can snap up the 28-year-old striker on a free transfer after he failed to agree a new contract with Cardiff.

While Bothroyd who is an ex-Cardiff player is constantly in the rumour mill today there is a report that newly promoted Norwich are interested in Cardiff's midfielder Peter Whittingham. The Sunday People are suggesting they are set to make a £1 million bid for the player. Whittingham is a stalwart of the Cardiff City midfield signed a two-year contract extension in the summer of 2010 keeping him with the Bluebirds until summer of 2013.

After loosing out on receiving transfer fees for Ledley, Bothroyd, Matthews and Burke would the club be tempted to sell and actually bank some money.

Norwich's local rivals Ipswich Town were linked with Michael Chopra only yesterday and in the Metro they had Tottenham interested in Craig Bellamy.

Chopra linked to Ipswich

Ipswich Town are being linked with Cardiff City striker Michael Chopra in some of the press today. Ipswich boss Paul Jewell is in the market to increase his striker force and has already seen a £1.75m bid for Doncaster hotshot Billy Sharp rejected.

It the first time Ipswich have chased the Cardiff striker the previous Ipswich boss Roy Keane was scared off when he tried to sign Chopra. Cardiff at the time placed a £4 million pound price on his head. Last season Chopra scored 11 goals after is season was bleated with a mixture of injuries and had to settle for a spot on the bench behind Craig Bellamy and Jay Bothroyd during the season.

Ipswich think Cardiff could be happy to see him go just to release him from the club hefty wage bill which has been reduced or about to be with players leaving the club. Cardiff would be looking for at least the same amount that was offered to Doncaster for Sharp if not more. If he was to leave that would leave Cardiff with only two strikers, Jon Parking and Nathaniel Jarvis who has just received his first professional contract by Cardiff. He had a short loan with Southend last season.

Soon as the issue of the manager is finalized Cardiff will also be in the market to strengthen their front line. Will Bellamy be back yesterday it was reported he would play for free to stay with the Bluebirds.

Bluebirds board to make decision

The South Wales Echo believes the long away meeting over the future will happen over this weekend after all the initial talk the decision will hopefully come. Fans have been left in limb waiting on a decision on the future direction the club will be taking for next season.

The Malaysians are reported to be unhappy with last season after backing the manager Dave Jones to bring promotion to the club. After six years, a majority of the clubs fans want to see an end of the Jones era and start afresh start with a new boss at the helm. There is also the budget which it's rumoured will be slash back heavily after back some highly paid loan signings last season.

The squad will need some rebuilding there are three goalkeeper one is still to have any first team experience and of the seventeen outfielder players four have yet to make their debuts. There could be a few more leaving the club yet, but who will be in charge of the team. He (Jones) has said a few times 'judge me at the end of the season' well I think he has been judged. If he was to stay his first mistake would bring howls of disapproval and calls for him to go greater than anything the board have heard before.

Of the field Cardiff have yet to make much in the way of preparations for next season we know the reason for the lack of movement in the transfer market. There are only two season fixture announced with the Bluebirds travel Yeovil Town on Saturday July 26 3pm kick-off and a trip to Weston-Super-Mare the following Saturday another 3pm kick-off. The planned tour for Malaysia has not come to fruition again, but the Academy youngest are going to tour there.

Bellamy playing for free??

Big Cardiff City story in the South Wales Echo today gives it away in the front-page headlines

'GRAIG READY TO PLAY FOR FREE NEXT SEASON'

There is no official word from the play himself, but a confidant and sources. He is according to the paper desperate to help Cardiff into the Premier league and wants to stay at the Cardiff City Stadium. It's well-known he has enjoy family life since joining Cardiff and is on record as only interested in playing for his present club Manchester City or Cardiff City where he spent last season on loan.

If he was to forgo his wages that would possible be a first for a footballer, at present he receives £90,000 a-week, £360,000 a-month and a massive £4,320,000 a year who would chuck that kind of money away. He might have a health bank balance, but with a reported two years left on his Manchester City contract that's £8,640,000.

Best option would be all parties to do some kind of a deal with Manchester City on his wages and take a massive cut to play for Cardiff it would be an option. He has no future with the Manchester club and with him adamant he will play nowhere else it's a deal that could be done. They should be more on the story later in the day.

Technically not Cardiff, but it is technically

With the UK football done and dusted I always look for a team to follow out of season. This year the plan was the follow Club Deportivo Alfonso Ugarte a Peruvian football club, located in the city of Puno. With the surname Ugarte I thought they would be interesting to follow. However, results are hard to come by and the language was a problem so I had another look around.

Australia was an obvious place to look, but I wanted to look for a team off the beaten track. Over the years I have followed a number of different teams in the summer shut down over here, but I came up trumps after a short search, South Cardiff FC also known as the Gunners who play in the NBN State League.
They are based in the Northern area of New South Wales and their ground is the Jack Neave Oval, which is located at Cross Street South Cardiff and as a 1000 capacity. That was not the end I spotted all an earlier cup fixture against a Cardiff City FC, yes jackpot. The game in the Solo Cup ended with a win for South Cardiff 3-0. Most of the Cardiff FC team are ex South Cardiff players, but there was a good crowd at the game and a cracking atmosphere it was reported with both sets of supporters mixing.
I have now found two teams carrying the name of the greatest football team in the world two for the price of one deal. Into research mode to find some information on both which again wasn't easy even with the worldwide web to help. There is not much out there neither club has a website nor much of a presents on the internet. South Cardiff are also known as Gunners or Southy to their fans they were formed as early as 1989. Their home team colours are red and white with black shorts. There has been some movement on the playing front with Rob Ambrogetti rumoured to have joined Southy from Valentine Phoenix. In a division below are is a team calling themselves Belmont Swansea United

The other Cardiff play in the Northern NSW Zone Premier League their home ground is Cardiff No2 Oval and their nickname the Tigers. At the moment they are top of the League and this weekend they face an away game to University. Also, in the same Division wait for it there is a Swansea FC. They recently fought out a 2-2 draw and will face each other again in July.
This weekend results
NBN State League
South Cardiff 1-0 Weston Bears

South Cardiff continued their good run against Weston defeating them 1-0 at Ulinga Park on Sunday.
Daniel Johnson claimed the only goal of the match as he headed home at the back post in the second half following the sides entering the half time break with the scores locked at 0-0.
Both teams battled it out in a scrappy and physical affair at Ulinga Park in a result that puts South Cardiff back in touching distance of the top four as they remain the only side to have beaten Weston this season, and to do it twice at that.
Weston coach, Darren Elkin, said “it’s always a hard game to look forward to, they adapted better under the conditions and it’s a timely reminder for us not to get complacent.”
South Cardiff coach, Steve Piggot, said “it was one of those battles we always have against them”, and was pleased to get the win after having a number of poor results in recent weeks.
Weston will look to regroup towards their catch up match against top of the table Broadmeadow Magic on Friday night with the chance to go on top themselves; while South Cardiff also face Broadmeadow on Sunday in Round 10 of the competition.

Gerrard back for good?

Player of the season Anthony Gerrard is looking to battle his way back into the Cardiff City into contention for next season with the Bluebirds. Voted player of the season at Hull City where he spent the whole of last season on loan putting in the kind of performance sometimes missing in the heart of the Cardiff back four. Hull would like to sign him on a permanent deal for next season

This season at times the back four have been sublimed other times they looked like a bunch of third rate amateurs. The stats show Cardiff had the seventh best defensive record with 28% of the 46 league games played clean sheets in the Championship last season. Why Cardiff boss Dave Jones drop Gerrard like a hot stone has never been made clear.

If the rumours are right and the budget will be tight next season the club would be unlikely Gerrard or many of the under contract players leave this summer. While the club is in limb business in and out is at a standstill.

No West Ham talks for Jones

According to the East London Advertiser Cardiff manager Dave Jones has denied he has spoken to anyone at West Ham about becoming the club’s new manager.
The 54-year-old is the bookies’ favourite to succeed Avram Grant at the helm, but today told the East London Advertiser that neither he nor the club have contacted each other.
“I have not had any contact with them over the job,” Jones said.
“I’m not prepared to say anything about the vacancy. I’m still employed by Cardiff City Football Club and only thinking of them.”

Later David Gold said on Twitter: "Despite what you may have read in the papers, we have not spoken to Dave Jones."

Gvain Rae

Cardiff City manager Dave Jones got another blast from a departing player this time Gavin Rae. Since the New Year he has only played minutes while having to watch the failed match to the end of the season from the bench or stand. Dave Jones made a number of options in midfield, but favoured the same old faces making hard for anyone trying to break-in.

The midfielder was released by the club on Monday and is now looking for a new club on his return from his holiday. Talking about his frustrations of being overlooked this season he said,

"I am gutted to be leaving and it was a frustrating season for me personally. I felt there were times when I could have played, even if it was to give others a rest.
"I was ready to play at any moment and in my heart I believe I might just have made a difference in some matches.
"One of my biggest regrets will be that I did not play a part in helping City earn promotion.
"We went so close over the last couple of seasons, but it wasn't to be.
"It was an up-and-down season in many ways.
"There were times when we looked really good as a team and then hit a bad patch.
"We were so close to automatic promotion, but in the end we didn't play well enough against Reading."

Since joining the club in the summer of 2007 he was more or less a regular in the starting line, but was only seemed to be fit to be a bench warmer last season. He made only two starts and handful for game from the bench and he made three starts in cup games with one goal to his name.

All the best for the future......Jonah

Sorry to say i'm a bit late with this, as it happened last week, but i wanted to give it time to see what happened with some of the players before jumping in with my thoughts.
So the retained list came out. It took a bit longer than first thought and when it did come out there were no surprises to be honest. Joe Murphy and David Mirfin had told manager Alan Knill they weren't going to sign new contracts, the gaffer told them both they were too good to be playing in League One, so everyone seems happy. Murphy is a good enough keeper to be playing in at least the Championship, maybe even a lower end Premier League team would take a punt on the Irishman. Mirfin will hope for a second tier team to come in for him, maybe former manager Nigel Adkins will take a chance on the man known as "The Ox", but i can see him playing in league one, along with his former Iron team mates, maybe at Sheff United or one of the bigger teams in that league (anyone for a return to Huddersfield??) Josh Wright is an interesting one. How low can your stock go, when the team that you've played for doesn't want to offer you a new contract, just in case you don't get another offer somewhere else and they are stuck with you !! When he first came into the club he was looked on as the next big thing and slotted into the team quite well. I didn't think about it at the time but it was a little bit strange that Charlton let him go without much fuss, but now we can see that maybe he carries a bit of baggage along with him. It seems that he has all the talent in the world, but without the application of that talent it means nothing. He has all the potential in the world, but seems more intent at becoming as famous as his brother Mark on the Only Way is Essex. Good luck to him in the future, i think he might end up lower down the league ladder than people expect him to.
While Murphy, Mirfin and Wright were first teamers it was no surprise that they were leaving. As much as saying that it was no real surprise to read the other ames on the list. Paris Cowan-Hall played about 20 minutes of first team football, his signing was a bit of a panic by former manager Ian Baraclough, he needed names in but the player never looked good enough to make an impact, even in the reserves. Ian Morris is the forgotten man at times. He spent time on loan at Chesterfield this year, but didn't play too often on their march to the League Two Title. The man who stepped up well to play in the teams Play-Off final win against Millwall a few years ago is now looking for a club, hopefully he won't be one of a long list of players struggling to look for a club this summer, he deserves a break. Youngsters Jonathan Williams and Rory Coleman were both on the list as well. They both warmed the bench but never played a minute of first team football for the Iron. Williams played well in the reserves but was never given the chance to step up, Coleman played a lot of pre-season for the Iron but then found himself out on loan and may count himself unlucky to play in the teams troublesome left back spot. Both came from the youth set up, but were not deemed good enough to make the step up. Once upon a time the youth team produced the likes of Matt Sparrow, Nathan Stanton, Andy Butler et al in recent times only Niall Canavan and Matt Godden have got anywhere near the first team, Godden yet to score his first goal for the team and Canavan struggling with injury and then going out on loan toe Shrewsbury.
One other person who has since left the club is Rob Jones. His time at Sheff Wednesday has gone well for him, their fans seemed keen to sign him full time, the only surprise really is the fact that he was allowed to leave on a free transfer. Maybe the club just wanted one of the top earners off the wage bill, his alleged wages could pay two or three others players for a League 1 push next year. The highlight of Jones' Iron career is hard to pin point. Low lights are there for all to see. Possibly his worst moment probably came early in his career for the Iron, ironically at Hilsborough. After being at fault for at least two early Wednesday goals, the man known as Jonah amongst his team mates, collided with the post after a corner and had to be carried off on a stretcher wearing an oxygen mask. Usually that would be a bad sign for the fans, but i think most fans were happy to see him leave the pitch. Hopefully the money saved from Jones' wages will be put to good use on a striker or two.....please !
Their are others on the retained list that i'm sure Alan Knill would be happy to see leave the club, no names have been mentioned but i'm sure some will be allowed to leave if offers come in for them.
The summer months are hard times for football fans. The only thing to get you through is a summer of speculation on who's coming and going, hopefully we'll see more come in than go out.
Recent speculation has linked us with a few Jamie Vardy, a striker/left winger, who has scored a good amount of goals for FC Halifax, seems a good prospect, someone who has the potential to fill the gap left by Martyn Woolford perhaps. One man we won't be signing is Will Hoskins, the Bristol Rovers striker has finally signed for Brighton, probably for bigger wages than the Iron could have paid the player. Hopefully all our eggs are not firmly placed in the Adam Le Fondre basket, we need more than one striker to come in and fill a Gary Hooper sized hole. Knill is still being linked with a return to former club Bury to take star striker Ryan Lowe. A man in his thirties who did well under Knill in his time in League 2, maybe Knill wants to bring in someone he knows well to fire a promotion push next year. As well as trying to take Nicky Ajose on loan from Man United for next year the future looks good transfers wise.
Its not long now till the fixtures come out on June 17th. Hopefully the longer trips, Bournemouth, Exeter, Yeovil, etc, don't come on tuesday nights. There will be a few short trips next season, i'm personally looking forward to trips to Chesterfield, Bury and Rochdale as well as continuing our recent good form at Bramhall Lane with a victory over Sheff United. There will be some hard games next year, with some teams seeing us as a decent scalp. My only hope is that we have better home form than this year and we don't concede as many goal, whilst maybe scoring a few ourselves, my job is made a lot easier when i've got goals at our end to photograph, i've had far too many away goal pictures this season for my liking !
Whatever happens in the run up to the new season it seems were in for a good ride under the "Ginger Mourinho" he'll steer this ship back to the promised land of the Championship, it just might take a bit longer than most people expect it to, but give him a couple of years and i think think our golden era can last just that little bit longer !

Sunderland chase two ex-Cardiff players

It's the turn of Sunderland manager Steve Bruce to express an interest in soon to be next Cardiff City striker Jay Bothroyd. Bruce is also interested in Craig Bellamy both were main assets for Cardiff City last season.

Bothroyd already is rumoured to have a number club waiting to open talks with him about his future. With no transfer fee to worry about clubs have only his wages to consider with Steve Bruce rumour to be offering around £30,000 pre-week to the striker, a considerable increase on his wage packet with Cardiff.

Everton, Fulham or Celtic are looking for a striker to boost their attacking options for next season.

Has for Craig Bellamy he has made plenty of noise about wanting to stay at Cardiff, but can the club afford him? Last week there was talk of a player/coach role being offered to Bellamy, but with a transfer fee plus his wages to find it could be a case of 'a bridge too far' for the Bluebirds. Bolton are said to want him and today Sunderland are ready to enter any race if he becomes available.

His career is over at Manchester City and they are reported to want £4 million for him when they paid £14 million in January 2009

Favourite with the Bookies, but fans unsure

Yesterday Sky Sports News has been speculating that Cardiff boss Dave Jones was in talks about taking over as boss of West Ham. Today there rumour is still there, but is not the first time Jones and West Ham have been linked. It when from just talks to agreeing terms, but there is no official word on this story only rumour.

The reason I am giving this story any credence is the well-known fact that the Eastenders find it near on impossible to keep a secret. News always seems to leak out of the porous club. The bookies have to Cardiff boss favourite for the job, but owner David Gold speaking on Sky would not be drawn on the Jones speculation, but did say they were talking to a number of interested parties.

Cardiff is planning a meeting this week to discuss last season failure and what's next for next season. The big unanswered question is the future of present manager Dave Jones will he still be at the club. If he does go there is the question of who would replace him and how long would it take to in stall a new boss. New players are needed to add to the squad has there is a shortage across the board. Any new boss would have his own ideas about players and style of play so there could be more upheaval to what's left of the present squad.

Football America Most Popular Sports In Usa And Canada

American football is known in the United States and Canada as football is a sport played by two teams each consisting of 11 players. Using a ball game called football (football), oval-shaped and brown. The two ends of the field is called field endzone which is the opponent's goal area. The ball was taken by hand as they ran or thrown to teammates, until the advancing teams managed to stop attacking the team survive. Score printed by way of carrying or putting the ball outside the goal line on the opposite side of the endzone, or kicking the ball past the opponent's goal. Top scorer team after the completion of the fourth round of the game was declared the winner. The game can be ended in a draw if no winner after extra time held. Carefully calculated play time the seconds, and regulations are strictly supervised play because it involves physical collisions between players.

History

Football as it is commonly known people and American football are both derived from various types of foot ball sports (football) being played in Britain in the mid-19th century. American football is a variation of rugby for more carry the ball by hand and only once in a while just kicked.

In the early years of the 20th century, professional teams began popping up in mill towns located in the area of Pennsylvania and the American Midwest. After that, the National League of American Football (NFL) was founded in the city of Canton, Ohio in 1920. Professional American football league continues to survive as second most popular sport in the U.S. until after World War II. Television footage managed to attract public attention to professional American football league. In the 1960s, game finally beat the popularity of the professional league baseball and American football college level. The first Super Bowl game between the champions of the NFL and AFL champions took place in 1967, and ending on the second joining the league in 1970.

Regulation

Field and players

American football is played on a rectangular field, with a length of 120 yards (110 meters) wide and 53 1 / 3 yards (49 meters). Outermost lines along the field is called the sideline (line side), while the outermost line at both ends of the field called the end line (finish line). On both the left and right field are the goal line (goal line). The distance between the two sides of the goal line is 100 yards. Fields scored a place called the end zone (end zone) and 10 yards in length calculated from the goal line until the finish line.

Along the field lines cross is made every 5 yards, called the yard (yard line). Every 10 yards, the distance marked yard line that starts from both sides of the goal line and ended up in the middle of the field (goal line), -10, -20, -30, -40, 50, 40 -, 30 -, 20 -, 10 - (the goal line). The lines that run across the football field similar to the lines on the rugby league field. Short lines at the edge of the field is called hash marks (a hash) that mark each length of yards from the field. Each initial movement of the ball starting with a hash mark the ball's position at or between two hash marks.

At the end of each end zone (end zone) there goalposts (called the goal posts or uprights). American football goalpost shaped like a tuning fork with a pillar height of 10 feet (3 meters). Goals must be signed between the two goalposts. Both goal posts separated by a distance of 18 feet 6 inches (5.6 meters) and mounted on an iron cross (cross bar) to form the mouth of the goal as the letter "U". In inter-school match, the distance between two goal posts are 24 feet (7.3 meters) so that the ball more easily entered. High goalposts until the very end to reach 30 feet (9 meters) from the top surface of the field. On the field for the game of professional, college and high school, the goal stanchion placed outside the playing field. Pillar also made curved outwards the field to reduce the risk of injury from hitting the pole.

Each team took to the field with 11 players. The team could replace some or all of the players when the time is still possible, or the movement of the ball during the pause. Each team has 46 players in one game and wear can be exchanged at any time throughout the game. Almost all the players the chance to down play and no one is unemployed.

Old games

Standard game consists of 4 rounds (called quarters), while each round consists of 15 minutes. Called the halftime break is given after the 2nd round is completed. 12-minute one-act system used in inter-school match. Hours match ball is stopped if there is a movement which, according to game rules require that the match was stopped, the result when the game becomes much longer. NFL game often takes more than 3 hours since the game clock to be stopped when there is no ball movement.

If both teams still scored the series until the 4th round is over, the NFL extended the match with an additional round for 15 minutes (overtime). In the game system used sudden death overtime, first team to score declared the winner, even though the opposing team no chance to get the ball. Match declared a regular game series in the NFL when both teams failed to score in extra rounds.

In an NFL playoff round match, when both teams continued to score the series, the game continued with additional rounds until one team wins.

The movement of the ball

The team that has a ball called the attackers team. Tim attacker was given a set of initial opportunity that consists of 4 times to bring the ball down as far as 10 yards closer to the end zone field (field goal) the opponent. If a team attacker managed to bring the ball as far as 10 yards in a single set of opportunities early, attacking team is entitled to an additional opportunity set (called a first down), which also consists of 4 times down to bring the ball back as far as 10 yards or score. If a team attacker failed to get a first down after making 4 times down, then the ownership of the ball moves to the opposing team.

Except in the initial round of the 3rd or after the team managed to score a score, the movement of the ball always begins with the snap position. The team dealing with a team attacker attackers on an imaginary line starting position the ball (line of scrimmage). One player from the attacking team passes the ball called the center (the operand is called "snap") through the gap in between both legs to a colleague who was behind the (usually passed to the quarterback).

The player carrying the ball in 2 ways:

1. Running the ball, this technique called Rushing. Technique gives the ball into the hands of teammate called a handoff.

2. Throwing the ball to a teammate, known as the throw to the front (forward pass) or passing. Throw-forward is a distinguishing characteristic of American football with other football sports. For a one-time play, the team once the attacker may only throw the ball forward, and it must be done from behind an imaginary line starting position the ball (line of scrimmage). In addition to a one-time opportunity to throw the ball forward, the ball may only be passed sideways or thrown back (called a lateral pass). Unlike rugby, throw-back matches are rarely done professional American football.

The opportunity ends down and the ball declared dead when:

* The player who carried the ball dropped to the ground (ditekel) or successfully halted the advance motion opposing team member (as approved by the referee).

* Pitch into the future can not be arrested until the exit from the field, or fall into the field of play before they can be arrested. This event is called incomplete pass (incomplete pass). The ball is returned to its original place at the beginning of the line the ball (line of scrimmage) to start the next down.

* The ball and players to be outside the field.

* One team scored.

The referee or the referee blew the whistle a few people to declare dead ball and finished down a one-time opportunity.

Before down done, each team could negotiate to discuss strategy player movement (called a play) during the down progress. Down position is often also referred to as play.

Change of ownership of the ball

Tim attacker has the right to ball until there is an incident:

* The attacker failed to get a first down after being given the opportunity early in the form of 4 times to bring the ball down as far as 10 yards. The team last took over the ball at the spot where the ball dead on 4th down. Change of ownership of the ball is called a turnover on downs.

* The team striker scored by performing touch-down or kick a field goal. Once scored, the team attackers formation of the region's own special kick to the opponent who called the kickoff.

* The team attackers Punt kick into the opposite field. Punt kick made by dropping the ball from the handle and kicked him before the ball touched the ground game. Punt kick down almost always done on the 4th, when the team attacker does not want to risk the ball taken the opposing team, or team attacker is still too far from the end zone to get a chance to kick a field goal.

* Catch the throw to the opponent team by a team front attackers. This event is called interception (interception). Opposing players who managed to get the ball in this way may run with the ball as far as possible to succeed ditekel, forced out of the field, or print a score.

* The ball off the attacker or team accidentally dropped the ball (called a fumble) and the other team picked it up. Just as interception, an opponent who had picked up the ball may run as far as possible by bringing the ball up to succeed ditekel, forced out of the field, or print a score. Change of ownership of the ball because the ball falls or captured the opponent by way of interception is called turnover.

* The attackers failed to kick a field goal toward the opposing goal. The team survived to get the ball down at the point of the last payment (or according to NFL rules, at which point kick failed). When the kick failed to do from a distance of 20 yards from the end zone, the opposing team get the ball on line 20 yards in the region itself.

* The team attacker who carried the ball ditekel, forced out of the field, the ball was taken out of the field, or conduct violations in the end zone. The latter event is rare and is called safety.

Scores

Teams can score by:

* Touchdown (TD) with a value of 6 points. The incident occurred when a player carrying a touchdown run or catch the ball throws the ball in the opponent's end zone field.

o After the touchdown, teams try to score by adding scores converted (conversion). The ball is placed on line 3 yards of the opposing team (two-yard line in the NFL) and kicked into the air to pass through the bar across the opponent's goal and hovering between two goalposts as well as field goal to get 1 extra points. Besides the kick is worth 1 point, the attacker can choose the conversion team is worth 2 points (two-point conversion). In the two-point conversion, re striker tried to run the ball or pass the ball into the end zone field as do the touchdown.

* Field goal (field goal or FG) with a value of 3 points. The ball was kicked into the air to pass through the bar across the opponent's goal and hovering between two goalposts. Before the kick, the ball is placed vertically above the ground by fellow team, or is released from the handle and kicked (the second method, called the drop-kick almost never done because it only gives 2 times the goals in the period of 60 years). Business scores with a kick a field goal is usually done on 4th down when the ball is near the goal by an opponent, or simply left little time to score in other ways.

* Safety with a value of 2 points. This score is printed team survive if the team has the ball attacker who was forced to retreat to field its own end zone and fell ditekel, or any of the following happens: the ball apart from the handle in the field of his own end zone, the ball is kicked successfully blocked and crashed in the field own end zone, or in violation of its own end zone.

Kickoff and free kicks

The opening kick-called kickoff conducted at the beginning of the game, early 3rd round, or after the team scored a touchdown or field goal. Tim attacker kicked the ball from his own field in the line 30 yards (NFL) or 35-yard line for the college game. The team survived the ball, and tried to catch it, then bring it forward as far as possible toward the opposite field. The point where the players from the team managed to survive the team stopped the attacker used as a starting point for the team attacker to conduct a series of attacks (called drive) into the field of the opposing team. When players from the team managed to catch the ball the results endure kickoff in his own end zone, the player can choose to take the ball away, or do touchback by kneeling in the end zone himself. If there touchback, the team survived turned into a team attacker, and the point of attack starts from the line 20 yards. Events touchback also occurs when a ball kicked until he came out of the end zone. In addition, the kick Punt and turnover in the area of the end zone can also end up with a touchback.

After the safety, the team that lost 2 points attacker must start the game with a free kick placekick (placed vertically and kicked the ball) or Punt (the ball is released from the handle and kicked before falling to the ground) from line 20 yards of his own.

Violation

Violations can be detrimental to the team who violated, or could result in injury so the team who violate imposed various penalties. When the team survive in violation, the punishment is usually in the form of early movement for the more advanced the ball near the end zone field teams survive. Conversely, if the attacker commits an offense team, early movements of the ball pushed back for getting away from the opponent's end zone field.

Most of the punishment in the form of repetition down. Some kinds of violations committed by the team survive automatically give you a first down (one set down a new one) to the team attacker. Conversely, violations committed by the team resulted in the loss of the chance the attacker down. When the punishment given to the team attacker was still able to carry the ball as far as 10 yards, the team still may get a first attacker down as usual.

If violation occurs, the referee threw the cloth (flag) yellow near the location of violations occur.

Violations are common:

* False start (false start): Players from the team moves to unauthorized attackers after row to make snap. If one start, play automatically considered dead.

* Offside: Players from the team attacker was in the wrong field when carried down. When movement player (play) has occurred, the penalty is deferred depends on the results of such play.

* Holding: The treatment is not valid as interesting or body snatched opponent that is not carrying the ball.

* Pass interference: Treatment unauthorized banging body into an opponent so as not to catch the throw the ball forward which is aimed towards the player.

* Delay: The act of delaying the movement of players (play) within a certain period after the previous play ended.

* Block the illegally from the rear: The player from the team attacker illegitimately pushed defender from behind.

* Face mask: Treatment grab or touch the iron mask worn to other players while trying to perform Dachshund.

Players

Most American soccer players have very specialized roles. An NFL player or college level players just need to play as a striker or defender alone.

Parties attacker

* Rows of attackers who called the offensive line (OL) consists of 5 players in charge of protecting the ball thrower, and pave the way for a fellow who ran the team while carrying the ball by blocking the team members survive. In addition to the player who served as the center, members of the row attackers usually do not charge carried off the ball.

* Players quarterback (QB) is a player receiving the pass snap when play (ball movement) begins. Players can choose to submit quarterback the ball to players running back (RB), threw it to another player, or alone carried off the ball.

* Rows of players running back (RB) line up behind or next to the player the quarterback with the specific task carried off the ball. In addition, RB players also served to block and catch the throw the ball, and sometimes handed the ball to fellow RB players. When a team has 2 players RB, a player acting as a halfback (HB), and a longer acting as a tailback (TB) is most likely to carry the ball while in charge of run-protected players who served as a fullback (FB).

* Player of wide receivers (WR) who was standing on the left-right line and catch the throw to the next task.

* Rows of players tight end (TE) that lined the outside row of the attacker, and can catch the throw to the front (like a player wide receiver) or protect quarterback players simultaneously open running room for players who carry the ball.

At the beginning of each movement of the ball (play), there must be at least 7 players standing on the imaginary line the ball initial position (line of scrimmage). Another player can stand anywhere behind the imaginary line. The number of players who served as a running back, wide receiver and tight end may vary depending on the decision of the team who do play. The team that just needs to advance the ball 1 yard probably will use the tight end 3 players, 2 players running back, and do not need a wide receiver because the player does not need to throw away the future. Conversely, teams that have carried the ball 20 yards as far as possible to replace all the players are running back and tight end player with wide receiver player only.

Parties survive

* Line of defense (defensive line) consisting of 3 to 6 players who lined up facing the opposite row attacker. Players from the defense tried to manage the players running back who carried the ball for the ball did not work carried further, or manage the players for quarterback can not throw or pass the ball.

* In most situations the game, the team commissioned to survive at least 3 players as a player last defender (called defensive back) or often called safeties (cornerback). His task hindering opposing players who receive the throw the ball, and tried to throw not been arrested or otherwise do not complete the throw made by the referee. Players defender survive often also tasked the player hit the quarterback.

* Players linebacker position between the defensive line (defense) and defender players survive, players hit the quarterback duties or obstruct an opponent who may be given a toss.

Special Units

Each team has a special unit which consists of players who are only asked to kick a ball. Players are grouped into a special unit whose job punter players kick Punt and placekicker player (kicker), which are meant to kick when the kick off, field goal, or a conversion kick after a touchdown.

Back number

NFL players back number is determined based on position in the team:

* 1-9: Players quarterback, kicker (kicker and punter)

* 10-19: Quarterbacks, kickers, kicker (kicker and punter), wide receivers and players

* 20-49: Players running back and a player last defender

* 50-59: Players player center and linebacker

* 60-79: Players line of defense and offensive line

* 80-89: Players receiver and tight end player

* 90-99: Players line of defense and linebacker player

Strategy

One hallmark of American football is the interruption of the game after the down ends, so each team could use a new strategy to play the soon to be played. Each team has a handbook containing dozens to hundreds of strategies that can be played.

American football teams spend a lot of time to prepare a strategy before it could come down to compete. Team members and coaches need time to days to develop strategies, including studying the match video footage. A long time to strategize plus hard physical labor during the game cause American football team usually can only play once a week.

Physical ability

American football is a physical contact sport. The defender must manage in a way that brings the player hit the ball to fall. The defender must make a physical impact in order to drop a player who is carrying the ball, in ways that allowed the rules. The defender who perform Dachshund prohibited kicking, punching, or tackle opposing players leg which was carrying the ball. Face shield is also a player on the helmet should not be taken or held. In addition, the Dachshund defender should not be done using a helmet. In addition to the ban for unnecessary roughness as mentioned above, all forms of physical conflict when doing Dachshund is legitimate. The defender who stormed into the striker has a great chance to stop the advance of the opposing team. In the game, the player the quarterback is a routine target defender who ran from the top of my voice beyond the reach of the player views the quarterback to drop it.

American football players wear a variety of protective equipment to avoid injuries, such as helmets, protective shoulder, hip protectors, and elbow protectors. Various protective equipment such as this has been known since decades ago, and now increasingly be relied upon to protect players from injury permanent.
