Lonergan back on the menu??

Cardiff City boss Dave Jones is being linked with Preston goalkeeper Andy Lonergan in the Daily Mirror. Jones tried unsuccessfully to sign the keeper during the January transfer window but with the failed of the Chris Kirkland deal the City boss to rumour to have gone back to Preston.

The Kirkland deal stalled over an argued over an extra bonus payment according to the same paper. Wigan requested a bonus if he helps the Bluebirds reach the Premier League believe to be £50,000 on top of the club paying around £12,000-a-week for the players wages.

According to the newspaper he has been training with Everton with Premiership club Everton. The last game he played for Preston was the 4-0 defeat to Bristol City at the beginning of February. Since then he has be stuck on the bench.

Lonergan is out of contract in the summer with Everton strong candidates to sign him. He gained his professional debut under the Everton boss David Moyes when he was in charge at Preston. Cardiff is looking to bring him in on a rest of season loan but would like to sign long-term.
