Cardiff face Oxford Utd tomorrow

TEN players are unavailable to Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay for the Carling Cup fixture against Oxford United. A mix of international call-ups and injuries mean Mackay will be taking three young youth players to Oxford and two at least will be on the bench.

That will give those playing tomorrow a chance to impress their managerThe Cardiff boss bemoaned the fact that Carling Cup and the international friendlies were clashing when in Scotland their League Cup kicks-off before their season starts. It did happen back in the 70's.

Defender Paul Quinn is in according to the manager speaking at this morning's press conference, but Steve McPhail is still not quite there with his fitness. With Kenny Miller and Rob Earnshaw international duty, it will give a chance to Cardiff other strikers to show off their wares.

The young French striker Rudy Gestede is likely to lead the attack for the Bluebirds at Oxford he impressed when he came on for Rob Earnshaw at West Ham on the weekend.

Some owners, managers, players, and fans kind of see the League Cup has a waste of space, but the winners get a place in Europe, a tasty prize.
