THIS morning Cardiff City are again linked with an up and coming young Premiership star of the future. A few days ago it was Manchester United striker Federico Macheda today a number of newspapers have Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey as a target.

Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay is in the market to sign some loan players, but with an already packed midfield is there a place for him. That the moment it must be yes, with all the injuries picked up in the two games with Leicester City. With tomorrow’s, game against Southampton and then a trip to Hull City on Saturday there is an international break give the injured players a chance to regain their fitness.
Has for Shelvey he joined Liverpool from Charlton in April 2010, for an initial fee of £1.7m, raising to £3.4m with add-ons. He has started just four of his 22 games for Liverpool and also an England U21 player. Mackay stated a few days ago that the pool of loan players is small so expects plenty of competition players.
