April opening for new pub near CCS

The new pub near to the Cardiff City Stadium will open April 2011 and has been named ‘The Sand Martin’ much to the outrage of most Cardiff City fans.

The Cardiff City Trust has fired off a letter to the owners of the pub Marston’s Inns & Taverns to reconsider the name of the pub. The Trust and fans are hoping for a more. The pub which is presently under construction is on the corner of Leckwith Road and Ffordd Fred Keenor the main road into the stadium area. The resting place for the new Fred Keenor statue will be at the end of Ffordd Fred Keenor road and the pub bearing his name would be welcomed by fans.

There is little chance of a name change according to a spokesman from Marston's PR company Vital the name had been created by a committee and that it was unlikely the pub would change its name now before it opens in April of next year.

It will be interesting to see how this new pub treats football fans. It is believe that on match day fans will have to buy a meal before you are served a pint has they go for a more family atmosphere.
