Bikini football

A Russia women football team plan to play in bikini for an upcoming match. FC Rossiyanka is a top woman’s team winners of many a titles in Russia, and have represent Russia in the UEFA Women’s Champion League will don there bikini’s for the love of there football.

The bizarre decision came about because of the lack of spectators at their games so they hope playing a one off game in bikini’s will attract spectators back to their games and heighten their profile.

Tatyana Egorova, the team’s coach said, that although they have won many championships, only a few people have heard of the team.

“We are the best woman’s team in Russia and have won many championships, even representing our country in the UEFA Champions League.”

Svetlana Zhuravleva, the club’s chief executive said

“I think that our football players are beautiful and attractive women and they virtuously master the ball and do not yield to famous tennis player and gymnasts.”

“In the whole world this sport is located on the first roles and is in rapid progress, largely due to government support and the help of national associations.”

“The main is that our sportswomen understand and appreciate our ideas. Together we achieve the desired because Russian women football is bound to succeed,”

Woman’s football is just as poorly supported in the UK but somehow I cannot see players donning bikini to bring in the fans. In America they tried lingerie American Football even setting up a league but it did not catch on with sporting public, man, they had the internet.

Maybe more signings Monday

Two in and all signed up for the upcoming season and possibility maybe two more on Monday, well one at least. The Cardiff City medical team are on standby for Monday with the arrival of out of contract former Middlesbrough defender Andrew Taylor who is heavily tip to have chosen to join the Bluebirds ahead of Bristol City or re-signing for Middlesbrough.

Because he is 24-years-old Middlesbrough are entitled to a compensation fee from the Welsh club because Taylor is a home-grown player. Taylor has talked of his sadness of moving on to pastures new but feels moving is best for his career, he said:

“It was my dream to play for Middlesbrough since I joined them when I was nine and it’s a hard thing to be leaving.

“I’ll miss it – I have a lot of friends here in the club.

“But, at this point of my career, it’s probably the time I should be moving on and experience something new in football and life.”

The Club and the fans will be hoping for a double signing with Dundee United striker David Goodwillie also deciding is future would be better served joining Cardiff. It is going to need a £2 million pound payment to prise him away from Dundee United all days ago they turned down a million pound off from Rangers.

Rangers need to come back with a bigger with Cardiff yet to make the step into the marketplace for the striker. News out of Scotland is that Cardiff will out bit Rangers for his signature. Goodwillie as a possible target has they search for new striker options.

The Dundee United manager Peter Houston has advised Goodwillie to move to the English league if the opportunity arises. He believes the players off the field problems with be better severed with a move across the border than a move to Rangers and the hotbed of Glasgow rivalry between them and Celtic. Houston said:

"If Rangers match any bids from somebody else, then it is up to David where he goes.

"That will be fine by me because ultimately it will be his decision.

"But, in my opinion, he should get out of the limelight and start afresh elsewhere.

"There is no doubt that out of all the clubs mentioned, Rangers are by far the biggest.

"But as someone who knows David well and has worked with him for five years, with all the troubles he's had off the field, he would be better going elsewhere.

"Is it in David's best interests to go into the goldfish bowl that is Glasgow? I don't think so.

"What I'm saying is not a criticism of Rangers and also not because I don't want him coming back to play against us."

City play Charlton in Spain

Cardiff City has confirmed the game in Spain against Division One Charlton, but nothing about a Gibraltar game that was announced by the Gibraltar FA on their website. The statement of the official Cardiff City website states only one game will be played while Cardiff are in Spain.

The game is sanctioned for Friday, 15th July kick-off at 7:30pm. To be played at Estadio Guadalquivir del Coria. Cardiff squad will be in Southern Spain from the 9th July until the 16th July, for summer training camp.

Don Cowie joins City

Cardiff City has announced their second new signing and this one was completely off the Rumour Mill’s radar. Cardiff manager Malky Mackay went back to his old club Watford to sign the midfielder Don Cowie on a free transfer with a three year contract.

He joined Watford from Inverness in February 2009 having moved to Inverness from Ross County where he came through their youth system. At Watford, he played a total 88 games score eight goals and since joining, the London club has been more or less a regular in the team.

Welcome to Cardiff but fans will be hoping to see some strikers coming to the Cardiff City Stadium.

Taylor on the way - hopefully

Pre-season training gets under way today and with his backroom staff now in place manager Malky Mackay now has to concentrate on new blood for his squad. News out of the northeast is suggesting Cardiff have beaten off Bristol City and Middlesbrough for the signature of out of contract Middlesbrough defender Andrew Taylor.

Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray put it simply yesterday speaking on Sky Sports News, "The best thing to say is that I am pretty sure it will be resolved, one way or the other. It has been exhausting and it will be sorted. He will be with us by Monday or he will be standing in Cardiff or Bristol holding up his new shirt.

Rumour has him in South Wales on Monday having a medical and meeting his new work colleagues at Cardiff City. He will already know the manager and most of the backroom staff at Cardiff owing to his loan spell that Watford where they were gamely employed last season. He was with the London club on loan until Christmas/New Year when a change in management saw him recalled back to the Northeast.

At Watford he played left back a position that gave Cardiff so problems last season, but on his return to Middlesbrough he played in a left midfield slot.

If he signs remember it is still just a rumour, it will make it two in and a few more to go. There is still the ongoing situation with David Goodwillie are Cardiff planning to make a bid? The Dundee United striker is under contract until 2013 so there is no rush to sell so Cardiff would have to pay the price the SPL club want, £2 million.
