Leeds then tried to pile the pressure my Cardiff just soaked it up before it was turned around  with City looking for the winner. Step-up Michael Chopra's with 11 minutes remaining to fire home the winner.

What a difference a few days make, destroyed at Watford 4-1 then shamed at Bristol City 3-0 but today an all new Cardiff City back second after a great win over Leeds United 2-1. We need some consonantly especially if the goal is automatic promotion.

The players are widely report to have been annoyed with the calls from fans for the sacking of manager Dave Jones if that’s what it takes for the players to play as a unit ‘Jones Out’ all the time for me.

The Cardiff City manager Dave Jones was ecstatic with the win over Leeds who came into the game with 12-match unbeaten run. It was Cardiff’s first home and away win of the season.

"It was a strong performance and all wins are good. But we were totally dominant apart from the time they scored their wonder goal.

"I have nothing but admiration for the players who have worked hard despite the illness that has run through the camp.

Damn rumours

More transfer rumours surrounding the Bluebirds, Blackburn must have Jay Bothroyd according to Click Lancashire.

The rumours will pitter out and they will have added to the list of possible suitors. Cardiff City has not heard anything from any of the clubs about signing Bothroyd. Jones told the BBC.

"We have had no contact from any club for Jay.

“I’ve heard Juventus, Inter Milan, AC Milan and Fulham all linked with him but we haven’t had one telephone call for any senior player at this football club.

"The only contact we’ve had is for younger players to go out on loan. The speculation does not bother me but all the clubs know our numbers here.

"If I was after a player then we would contact the club and do the proper things. Jay has said he is happy here so we just have to live with the speculation."

On who could be coming in rumour, two new names have been thrown into the transfer ring Liverpool centre-half Danny Wilson and centre-half Winston Reid from West Ham.

A win tomorrow night we see either Cardiff or Leeds in second place in the league after today’s results.

To of the table QPR could only manage a 2-2 draw at home to Bristol City. They looked to be taking all three points until an injury time goal squared the game, they are now eight points ahead with Cardiff going into tomorrow nights game.

Swansea dropped from second place to third after losing away a Leicester City 2-1 but have the same number of points as the new holds of the second spot, Norwich.

Norwich picked up a point to move into second with a draw up at Middlesbrough. However, worrying the pack below the top five are close to crashing the party with the top five being so inconstant. Watford are a point behind Cardiff in 39 while Nottingham Forest and Reading are two points behind Forest.

A victory tomorrow a must, so we have a game in hand over most above means nothing if it is not won.

Jones to ride out the storm?

How much pressure is Cardiff City boss Dave Jones under? He has shown in the past he cares little of the opinion of the fans and looks down with contempt on pundits who question is management skills.

The board has discuses the situation briefly according to report with them coming down on the side of the manager. Bluebird’s chief executive Gethin Jenkins talk about Jones said,

“Why should Dave Jones’ position be under scrutiny now? It is not.

“We are fifth in the table with a game in hand and if we were to win that one it would put us back in second.

“I think supporters do need to keep things in perspective at this moment in time.

“My aim now is to work with the board and with Dave to try to bring in new players during this month to strengthen.

“The aim now is just the same and that is to keep on with our aim to bring Premiership football to Cardiff City.”

In his column in the South Wales Echo Nathan Blake is calling on Jones to go, the headline reads

‘Enough is enough, Jones must be shown the door’

The last time an Echo communist (David Giles) took on Dave Jones he was roundly attacked from all quarters chairman, management, players and fans. The then players even put his picture on the dart board of Giles. I wrote on this blog when Blake took over ‘How long before a new face replaces David Giles on the dartboard at the Bluebirds training ground.’ You just can be goody two shoes about a team like Cardiff, there are problems.

The whole Giles thing turned sour for me when Dave Jones attack Giles career and fans started call him a Swansea fan when he is a 100% Cardiff City fan. Will he (Jones) now turn on Blake and will the fans. He can’t really have a pop at his career having paid £1.5million to take him to Wolves when he was managing them. Fans can shout out a scream as much as they like but until the Malaysians have there say, it’s not going to happen.

Jones in Jones out all I have on my mind is a win tomorrow against Leeds, three points bank and back into second in the Championship League table.

Two Points Dropped...

QPR 2-2 Bristol City

QPR ended the busy Xmas period, five points clear at the top of the Championship, but will be kicking themselves it isn't 7, as one of the most one sided games I have ever seen at Loftus Road, ended 2-2.

Well a full strength LH gang assembled at the Springbok before the match and Happy New Year greetings were exchanged between those who's paths didn't cross at Carrow Road on New Years Day. We also discussed, Jenson's appearance on Sky's, 'Take it like a Fan' programme of which goes to air on Friday. Although Jenson came to the pub £40 better off, he sadly didn't win and have the chance to take a penalty on the Loftus Road pitch at half time for £500 - which I believed was eventually missed, but not sure if this is 100% correct.

Onto the game and as mentioned, it was one of the most one sided affairs witnessed at Loftus Road, not only this season, but many a season gone by. If I sat here and described every chance Rangers created, I would be still writing this report tomorrow afternoon, but it was quite astonishing just how this game wasn't all but over at half time. A cliche I know, but if it were a boxing match, the referee would have stopped it.

After what seemed a very quick Half Time break, we were back to our seats and what often happens after a side are so dominant, happened - a rare mistake from Clint Hill - who headed a hopeful long ball into the path of the in form Brett Pitman and the frontman made no mistake in cooly slotting the ball past Paddy Kenny. The lead though, lasted just 3 minutes - Adel Taarabt wriggled himself to the touchline before brilliantly laying the perfect ball back to Alejandro Faurlin who side footed the ball past David James to level the scores and Loftus Road was jumping.



The half continued much like the first with the R's completely in control and chance after chance followed. Rob Hulse was guilty of two glaring misses as well as a point blank header superbly saved by James in the first half. But although the majority of people will be quick to get on Hulse's back, his finishing was all that let him down and his approach, support and hold up play this afternoon was quite superb and you just get this feeling, that once he hits the net again, there will be no stopping him! Watch this space....

On 84 minutes, Rangers finally got the breakthrough they deserved when the referee, correctly adjudged that Elliot had climbed all over Hulse in the box and pointed at the spot. Adel Taarabt stepped up and with nerves of steel, sent James the wrong way for what everyone must have thought was the winning goal.



But as we were about to find out, the game was far from over. In stoppage time, a quite superb save from Paddy Kenny brought Loftus Road to it's feet after he pushed away Campbell-Ryce's effort. But sadly, our hearts were broken as from the resulting corner, Caulker outjumped Gorkss to head home from close range and give City a point that in all fairness and without bias, they barely deserved. Not before one final attack from the R's when substitute, Petter Vaagen Moen's cross was nodded on by Hulse to Tommy Smith, who fired agonisingly over the bar from close range.

Lofty's Man of the Match - brought great discussion from the gang, which unfortunately, was cut somewhat short by an extremely unsavoury incident in the British Queen of which I won't go into. But the discussions led to votes for Faurlin, Hulse and Paddy Kenny once again. But with 3 votes, primarily voted by PK, California Hoop and Jenson, the award today goes to Tommy Smith, who has happily now signed a two and a half year deal with the R's following his loan spell.

On the subject of loan players, I thought I would just spare a few lines with regards to on loan defender, Kyle Walker.



Kyle joined the R's on loan from Spurs back in September, due to injuries to Bradley Orr and Peter Ramage. He went straight into the side against Ipswich and has been there ever since. But sadly, the news today is that he will not be pursuing his season on loan with QPR as many hoped and predicted, but instead with Aston Villa. Kyle has been absolutely superb during his time with QPR and all of us at Lofty Heights would like to wish Kyle all the best in his time with Aston Villa and indeed, in his future career!
