FORMER Cardiff City defender and Guadeloupe international Miguel Comminges has joined MLS club Colorado Rapids.

He joined the Bluebirds in 2008 on a free transfer from Swindon signing a two-year deal but was only ever a bit part player with the club is time was also blighted by injury.

He saw his contract out playing just over 30 games in two years, but he was surprisingly given a six months extension by former manager Dave Jones to help him regain his fitness due to a other injury.

In November 2010, he when on a short-term loan deal to Carlisle United with an option for the deal to become permanent, should the loan be a success. He only played one game while at Carlisle a FA Cup win over Tamworth and return to Cardiff at the end of December.

He was soon off on his travels after the club gave him a free transfer to Southend United in January. He was released in the summer and has now remerged in America. Now at Colorado Rapids he is eligible for Tuesday night's CONCACAF Champions League match against Mexican Santos Laguna. Rapids coach Gary Smith said,
“Miguel is a talented, versatile defender, and will give our squad even better depth by providing another option at left or right back. “He has trained with the club a good deal in the last month, and we’re excited to officially welcome him into the team.”
Smith has revealed he has been tracking Comminges for a while through links with Cardiff City Good luck in the MLS to Comminges

Comminges now at Southend

Good to see Cardiff City defender Miguel Comminges as found a new club after signing for Southend United. He signed on a free transfer until the end of the season.

He has just come back to Cardiff after a loan spell with Carlisle United having only played 45minutes.

He would have better off if he would have stay at his previous than join Cardiff. Pre to join Swindon he was with French team Reims where in four season he played 74 time only to be plucked out of Swindon after at the end of his first season by City boss David Jones.

Truth by told, he never real looked a Cardiff City player and soon found himself sliding down the pecking order among the defenders. From 2008 until today he made 35 appearances mainly earlier in his career at Cardiff and opening rounds of the cup games, injuries also played there part in his time with Cardiff.

I wish him lucky

Comminges back

Defender Miguel Comminges is back at Cardiff City after his loan spell with Division One Carlisle United failed to produce a permanent deal.

While with Carlisle he only managed 45 minutes of play coming on a half time in the victory of Tamworth in the FA Cup.

Since joining the club in May 20008 now he only managed 31 games in total, must in the early part of his stay in South Wales. It was expected he would have been released in the summer but the club gave him a short team contract has he was recovering from a long term injury. The player will be out of contract in a week or so and has no future with the Bluebirds and will be free to find a new club.

Carlisle boss Greg Abbott said,
"It was good that we had him for a month and he has been alsolutely terrific. He's a really good person and has worked hard from the moment he got here.
"I spoke to him today and told him that we want to make permanent signings that we think are going to be better than what we already have here, and we didn't think that he quite there at this moment in time.
"He accepted that decision really well and it is not going to put him off trying to do something with another club elsewhere.
"We wish him well and we hope that he does get sorted out because he is a genuinely decent man"
