When Cardiff City striker Jon Parkin was link to a move to Coventry City has part of the deal to bring Ben Turner to the Cardiff City stadium, it look as Parkin was becoming surplus to requirements that the Bluebirds.

Allow there has been no official statement for either club he his strongly tipped to be going out on loan to bottom club Doncaster Rovers for a month. The player himself confirmed the news on Twitter

Since he surprisingly joined the Bluebirds back in January he has been more and less a bit part player starting just five games and a handful of substitute appearances. He has become a favorite of Cardiff fans and has a large following among City fans on twitter.

Looks like the deal between Cardiff City and Coventry City to take striker Jon Parkin's as part of a cash/player deal for Ben Turner is off after the Cardiff striker failed to agree terms.

The striker passed a medical, but as reported yesterday the deal was likely to fall through over his wages demands. He is believed to be on £8,000 a-week which was too high for Coventry to match.

Parkin will now stay with the Bluebirds but it will be interesting to see if he is loaned out or the possibility of a transfer out come January. He looks to be surplus to requirements in Mackay squad a is expected to be a bit part player unless a drastic u-turn in Mackay’s plans.

If Cardiff boss Malky Mackay wants Turner it will have to be a cash deal now.

The possible transfer deal that would bring Coventry City defender Ben Turner took a step closer with news the Cardiff City striker Parkin has arrived at Coventry for a medical. It was rumored there was a problem with the financial aspect of any deal his wages. Now he is having a medical and entering talks about personal terms the deal looks to be going along nicely, but is Turner ready to sign for Cardiff.

With only around 31 hours before the transfer window shuts (11pm tomorrow) his signature is not guaranteed with Birmingham believed to be in the chase. Others seeing Coventry's willingness to sell could show an interest in the defender as well .

It must be said Parkin was a surprise purchase by former manager Dave Jones back in January paying Preston £100,000 for his services. He found it difficult at Cardiff to break the Michael Chopra and Jay Bothroyd partnership making only three starts out of 13 games. He scored only one goal in a 1-1 draw against Norwich. This season he has Rob Earnshaw and Kenny Miller in front of him along with some exciting new young striker . He played in both Carling Cup games with tells you his prospects for this season are not rosy a move could be what he needs.

Cardiff City new boy Jon Parkin has a dream that day he will watch himself on Match of the Day and he join Cardiff because it was his best chance of achieving his ambition. Speaking to the Sunday Mirror he said,

“I want to watch myself on Match of the Day.
“I watch it every Saturday night and think: ‘I’d love to be on there’. I feel I could do it in the Premier League.
“Defenders there haven’t seen to many strikers like me. They might scratch their heads a little bit!”

Cardiff fans have yet to see the striker known has ‘The Beast’ in action he missed yesterdays FA Cup clash with Stoke because of injury, however he is expected for Norwich. Manager Dave Jones reckons Parkin’s has a lot to offer on just is size, he can move about and with ball at feet hard to stop.

He has been close to his goal of Premiership football he was with Hull City but sold before they reached the Premier League. He help Stoke City to promotion to the Premiership only to be sold to Preston and missing out again.

“I’ve seen the facilities here and I feel this club is better equipped to get up than Stoke were. It’s a good career move for me.
“I’m under no illusions it will be tough for me. Cardiff home some great strikers – the likes of Craig Bellamy, Jay Bothroyd and Michael Chopra.”

He could get his chance next Saturday at Norwich with Bothroyd expected to miss the game and Michael Chopra picked up is fifth yellow card against Bristol City, played against Leeds a few days later and is yet to serve his mandatory one match ban. Hell of a game for a debut, a top of the table clash with the possibility of the two top strikers out will put a lot of pressure on the new signing.

If they are both out that would only leave Parkin and Andy Keogh with youngest Nathaniel Jarvis for the game. Craig Bellamy can play in a central role but he has been playing his best football out on the wing.

He is not fazed is nickname ‘The Beast’ explaining it came out of him scoring goals not out of looks or size.

“I got my nickname from my time at Macclesfield when I scored 26 goals in one season. The manager Brian Horton said I was like a beast devouring the opposition. It just stuck with me.
“It doesn’t bother me- I’ve got used to it now and I could be call a lot worse! But just because you’re a big lad doesn’t mean you can’t add more to your game.
“Look at Grant Holt at Norwich. He’s built like me and doing a hell of a job.”

Today’s game becomes history the second the final whistle was blown at Aston Gate in my book. I will have a chat about the game with my Dad and watch 'The Football League Show' in the morning about my mind is on Tuesday night and the visit of Leeds.

When will this bad run turn? Or is it the tired mind of a tired manager who is the problem. November, December and now could we see the same in January? Manager in, manager out and then there is Leeds.

Cardiff have a new player, but I can’t see people dancing in the street with the news. Preston striker Jon Parkin joined the Bluebirds for an undisclosed but it was earlier reported to be round £100,000. For a striker to command a fee around that figure even if he could walk away free in the summer seems worryingly low.

Without Jay Bothroyd in the starting line-up the goals dried up from the forwards. In fact since the Preston game that saw Bothroyd off injury early in the first Cardiff have score only two goals in five games, Andy Keogh against Preston and Peter Whittingham against Watford. Fans hope to have Jay Bothroyd back for the Leeds game, will Parkin start or sit on the bench. Earlier in the season he scored an hat-trick against Leeds for Preston.

Is Cardiff City about to sign ‘the beast’ of Preston in a £100,000 deal, they are according to press reports. Names linked to the Bluebirds are jumping out of the woodwork with one transfer rumour  and the transfer window has not even opened yet.

The Preston forward Jon Parkin was reported to be in Cardiff some time today having a medical. Like Bothroyd he is out of contract in summer which is why Cardiff could be only £100,000 for a striker. He has netted seven Championship goals in 16 appearances so far this season.

In the Preston local press they are suggesting he complete the move over the weekend with a view to making his debut for Cardiff against Leeds United on Tuesday.
