R's on the Road To.......... Ipswich Town.

On Tuesday night Rangers’ hit the road once more to fellow early season high flyers Ipswich Town.
In recent years the R’s haven’t enjoyed the trip to East Anglia but now that nemesis Jon Stead has moved to Bristol City could this finally be the year that we chalk up an overdue win at Portman Road?

Club History.

The club was founded in 1878 but did not turn professional until 1936, and was subsequently elected to join the Football League in 1938. They play their home games at Portman Road in Ipswich. The only fully professional football club in Suffolk, they have a long-standing and fierce rivalry with Norwich City in Norfolk, with whom they have contested the East Anglian Derby 138 times since 1902.
Ipswich won the English league title once, in 1961–62, and have been runners-up twice in 1980–81 and 1981–82. They won the FA Cup in 1977–78, and the UEFA Cup in 1980–81.

Ipswich have been at home at Portman Road since 1884 and in recent years The North and South stands undergone a £22 million development and were open in 2001 and 2002 respectively.
There are two statues of the clubs most famous managers, Sir Alf Ramsey and Sir Bobby Robson.
Away fans are housed in the upper tier of the Cobbold Stand on the of the pitch. If you are sat anywhere between the front and the middle of the stand then you should enjoy a pretty good view of proceedings but if you are at the back then you may have your view obstructed by a few supporting pillars.

How to get there.

By Car: - The postcode for Portman Road is IP1 2DA.
Leave the M25 at junction 28 and follow the A12 for 50 miles and after junction 27 you will reach a roundabout, take the second exit and join the A1214. After two miles take a right at the traffic lights and join the A137 which is signalled ‘Cliff Quay and Football Ground’. From here you are one mile away from the ground and just need to find somewhere to park your car.
There are parking facilities around the ground which cost anything between £3.50 and £5.

By Train: - The station is only a quarter of a mile away from the ground. You will see the ground as you arrive at the station and will be easily able to find your way to our destination.

Pubs 'n' Grub.

Drinking establishments for away fans very limited. The Station Hotel, which is near to the ground and train station, is where most visiting supporters will congregate. Otherwise the Punch & Judy pub on Cardinal Park, which is close to the ground has also been recommended to me as a pub which is family orientated and where both sets of fans can enjoy a drink. Pubs to avoid are the Victoria, Hare + Hounds and the Swan.

Food on offer inside the ground include; Rollover Hot Dogs (£3), Various Pies, including the Chicken Balti Pie (£2.60), Pasties (£3) and Jumbo Sausage Rolls (£2.60).

Karl Benz

Creator of iconic brands, Benz was a pioneer in the manufacture of cars in Europe.
His full name was Karl Friedrich Benz was born November 25, 1844 in a German city called Karlsruhe, graduate studies and 20 years of mechanical engineer and although at the beginning not worked for what I studied, she worked in a foundry, keeping in mind its objective of starting your own business of engines.

Since young I thought in means of transport that were powered by engines and not by animals, and began to experiment with 2-wheel vehicles. Years later, when putting together some capital, accomplished partner to open a machine shop, and the following year he married Bertha Ringer, a woman who was an important part in his achievements as an inventor. Unfortunately this business flourished and foundered.

This failure helped him work on engine development, an idea he had from his years of study. It is then able to develop in 1878 when an internal combustion engine 2-stroke, seven years later, he built a tricycle that was what made him famous, and he had an engine, single cylinder, 0'88 horsepower.

In the first tests were done to this engine in Munich, things did not go as he expected, prompting derision from those who watched the practices. Still manages Patent No. 37435 Motorwagen model (vehicle with 3 wheels, lightweight and able to reach 15 km / h) as the creator of the first vehicle able to move with an internal combustion engine.

So the first step was taken. Now with patent in hand, the next step was to further develop and evolve. First of all, Benz took over the experiences in improving 4-stroke engines in 1884 by Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Haybech. One such change that Benz applied to what Daimler had already made was to create not only the motor but also a suitable chassis for him is amazing to think that the company Daimler Benz merged in the future, but its founders never became known.

is good stress, and as a curious fact, that never wanted to drive Daimler a car, and even worse was his death due to disruptions caused him a trip to one of their vehicles, sometimes life is rather ironic, no?

Later, another momentous event occurs in this story was the discovery of a major hydrocarbon energy, which is called Benzine. Its discoverer was Eilhard Milscherlich. This oil will eventually become the ideal fuel for vehicles or motor cars. For 1886, Benz cars were ready to go on sale, the problem was that by that time there were many people who could afford a car let alone if the reliability was still in question, first because the car was uncomfortable and unstable, advertising not favored and having no prospects, there were not many opportunities for trade, and here comes into play the third and last event that solved problems Benz, help and support of his wife, Bertha.
Seeing her husband's invention calaba not trust the Germans, decided to take a trip with their 2 children between the cities of Mannheim and Pforzheim about 100 km long road in a deplorable state, where he had to push the car on hills and to fill the fuel tank itself. Still managed to finish the tour on the evening of that day, and marked in history as the first long trip by car from that record.

This expedition served to give confidence and credibility to the vehicle and to encourage users to purchase cars, orders were swift and 5 years later, they released a new 4-wheeled model called Viktoria, then an improved version, "Veil", the first car produced in series. Years later, after so much glory, Benz was forced to part company with 2 of their children.

The Benz merged with Daimler then, passing called Daimler & Benz in 1926 and later became the Mercedes & Benz. This name is given by the whim of an Austrian Consul, who directed the development of 36 Daimler vehicles with 2 conditions: first that had the exclusive license for marketing in France and the United States, and second that this model had was to make and use the name of his daughter, Mercedes, model participated in a competition. The car won successive races, and had painted on the hood, the name of his daughter.

Karl Benz died on 4 April 1929 in Ladenburg, Germany, leaving a legacy of incalculable historical value cultural and economic, as today Mercedes Benz cars are one of the best on the market, expensive and even exclusive.

Road Blocked and Truck Torched in Assam, India

The people of the Karbi tribe are demanding an autonomous state in India’s Assam region.

And to push for their cause, they called for a road closure on National Highway 39.

But the first day of the shutdown was marred with sporadic incidents of violence.

The supporters blocked the highway by bringing down trees onto the road and then they torched a truck carrying pigs.

[Balbir Singh, Police Inspector]:
"Around 4 o’clock in the evening, the truck was released after clearing the check point and once it reached here, the miscreants came out of hiding, detained the truck and set it on fire."

The driver and his passenger managed to escape unhurt.

Traffic on the highway, which connects Assam to Nagaland, has now come to a standstill.

But further violent incidents are expected if the shutdown call is ignored.

Fight Breaks Out During Women's College Soccer Game (VIDEO)

In the middle of a women's college soccer match between the Oregon Ducks and Oklahoma State Cowgirls on Friday night, two players were given red cards and ejected from the game for fighting.
Oregon's Mercedes Walters and Oklahoma State's Kyndall Treadwell started to fight in the 63rd minute. Walters pushed Treadwell to the ground and the referee immediately gave both of them red cards.
The Cowgirls won the game 1-0.
Although the scuffle wasn't as serious as infamous Elizabeth Lambert pulling a player down by her ponytail, the rough altercation still warranted ejections. Scroll down to watch the video.
