Rangers' at the double on deadline day.
Today on deadline a rare thing occured, the R's actually made two signings and made those of us that sat in front of Sky Sports News at somepint during the day actually have something to shout about as Rangers' added to their ranks with two strikers who will hopefully provide some added firepower that will keep us in the higher part of the league.
First to come along was a target of a few years ago and finally Rob Hulse will pull on a blue and white hooped shirt some four or five years after we originally tried to sign him. There were fears over the result of a medical but apparently all of that has been overcome and at roughly 8pm tonight the conformation was received by the club and the three year deal for an undisclosed fee from Derby is now official.
Hot on the heels of the Hulse signing comes the announcement that Tommy Smith will also join the club on a three year deal from Portsmouth, also for an undisclosed fee.
Again the paperwork for this reached the club at roughly the 8pm mark so we can consider this a good job done on both deals.
Signing these two top quality strikers definitely highlights the R's intentions to go on the rampage and have a real go at pushing for the promotion and play off places and hopefully the good times will continue for us down in W12.
Welcome to both Rob and Tommy, we hope you enjoy the rollercoaster ride that we have here down in West London!

"You have a better, like, looking vagina than I thought," Kim said while watching the procedure.
"What? What did you think my vagina was going to look like?" Khloe asked.
"I don't know, I never looked at your vagina," Kim said. "I thought it was, like, a shaved rashy vagina."
"I have a nice ass, too," Khloe said.
Khloe previously received an at-home bikini wax from Kourtney.

Return of the Mack
This afternoon the Lofty Heights crew of Lofty, PK, Jenson and myself took to the road and hit the slow moving M1 at roughly 10.30. The usual prediction competition took place on the way, would a new winner be crowned or wwill the money go the the usual winner? All will be revealed later. When we got upto Derby and took our seat in the nearby Pride Park Harvester and enjoyed a swift half or three and dring our pre match preprations we were joined by Iceman, Richard, Sophie and Richard's son who was attending his second game as a QPR supporter.
We took our seats just as the half began with myself, Lofty and PK sitting on one side of the stand whilst Jenson and Iceman sat on the other side.
Neil Warnock named an unchanged side after beating Scunthorpe last week. Adel Taarabt kept the captains armband.
The first half was a frustrating affair as Derby bossed the game and pressed Rangers' high up the pitch. Robbie Savage followed Adel Taarabt's every footstep and challenged the Moroccan everytime he got the ball, at times it looked as if Rangers' were playing with ten men as we just couldn't get Taarabt in the game.
Kris Commons was proving to be a constant thorn in the R's backside and he got the goal
his trickery deserved as the R's defence fell by the wayside. Derby broke down the left and as the ball was played to the back post there was Commons, who had enough time to take a touch and then slot home and delight the lively home crowd.
The referee was frustrating the Rangers' travelling fans, players and management alike with some very questionable decisions in favour of the home team, maybe I'm being slightly biased but my word that ref was poor!
After sharing the last five minutes having some banterous cheering with the Derby fans it was half time, and if I'm honest Derby had edged the half and looked more hungry than us.
During the half time break we all made our way outside so Lofty and PK could enjoy their smokes and reunite the group ahead of the second half. The five of us took to the stands together for the second half and we also had Richard, Sophie and the new young R in our group.
Much of the same happened in the second half and disaster struck on the hour mark when Bailey was fed the ball on the edge of the Rangers' half, he took aim and curled an effort past Paddy Kenny and gave the home side a 2-0 lead. As soon as the ball left his foot you could see that it was only heading for one place, the back of the net.
After another frustrating twenty minutes of poor officiating and a second disallowed goal, the first goal happened in the first half at 0-0 but looked clearly offside, however the second offside decision did look very close.
Neil Warnock came very close to getting sent to the stands when his emotions boiled over and shared his views to the officials on the sidelines, after a quiet word he was allowed to carry on directing orders from the touchline.
The board went up showing four minutes of added time and we were nearly out of our misery.
Rangers' got what looked like a 91st minute consolation as Patrick Agyemang held off his defender and poked the ball home and give us a glimmer of hope.
The R's then piled on the pressure in search of an unlikely leveller and got a last minute corner. Derby cleared their lines and the Derby striker broke through on goal with just Kenny to beat and the new R's number one saved and denied a third Derby goal.
From that corner Rangers' broke away and won a throw which was taken quickly and before we knew it Jamie Mackie was on the edge of the Derby area with defender blocking his way to goal, he muscled his way past and superbly shot into the far corner!!! Cue the delirious celebrations!!!!!!
The celebrations were similar to those at Hillsborough when we got promotion, we robbed Derby in injury time and my god it felt good!!
Today's Lofty Heights Man of the Match is given to Jamie Mackie for another great work rate all game and was rewarded with the 95th minute equaliser
After half an hour of trying to recover and get our heart rates back to normal we were still buzzing and were talking to Derby fans as we were looking at the brand new Clough/Taylor statue outside the ground.
We made the slow walk back to the Harvester giving out a few Rangers' chants to the R's fans sat in the traffic we walked past. We met up with Jo and John in the Harvester, they left the game at 2-0, so myself and Lofty did enjoy rubbing it in a tiny bit.
After a swift beer we left Iceman in the pub as he only had a short journey back to Burton and we hit the road with talksport on and went through our results of the predictions and with just the Blue Square results to go it was PK in the lead by two points, however after a blinding round of results it was me that somehow pulled it out of the bag to win by seven points.
A great day all round and even now as we just arrive at our homes we are all still buzzing after a second great away day of the season.

Rash On Arms That Looks Like Scratches
When I agreed to work in Stuttgart-Untertürkheim I should address the problem of travel costs, even though Germany had secured a good stipend. To be able to devote to journalism had a regular job, and that was in a cardboard factory in Lanús Oeste. The salary was fair but with every month that was spent was delayed settlement more and more and more until finally I had more than 12,000 pesos m / n. When the company took over the new owners offered me pay half of the debt: 6,000 pesos. I decided to spray and set fire to bonzo investing all this money on my trip to Germany, namely: 5,600 pesos in a round-trip passage aboard the Anna C line Giacomo Costa Fu Andrea, and the remaining 400 pesos train ticket Genoa-Stuttgart.
From then on it was to my attention by English-speaking journalists. My direct boss was Count von Urach a gentleman. And my first race I attended was Monaco. Here was a series of improvisations and unexpected: Hans Herrmann that accidents and injuries in training, a Frenchman named Simon received while he was shaving, from Neubauer to replace and take over the team's fourth car, then race, successive departures from Moss, Kling, Fangio and when he began to tap, Alberto Ascari with his famous falling out with the Lancia Montecarlo Bay.
Back to Stuttgart we are preparing to attend the 24 Hours of Le Mans. We work Press rigor. The team concurred with three 300 SLR and three pairs of drivers. I took a test drive of Porsche and went through the French countryside covered with thousands of crosses of the extensive cemeteries with the dead of the battles in the trenches of the First World War. In the pits at Le Mans had arduous task because of the three pairs of drivers who alternate driving and only two were Germans. With the rest I had to act as interpreter when needed: Fangio, Moss, John Fitch, with Levegh less. Alongside Fangio Argentina fans had even more in particular I remember a young Oscar Cabalén. After the race with its dramatic initial alternatives to its tragic outcome. I was saved because he had gone through the drama scene two or three minutes earlier. I managed to take some photos of the eighties and many dead lying on the floor, not without some horrified spectators rushed out with blood stains me my jacket. The rest is known: Le Mans 1955 was really a fact hinge for world motorsport. As I dozed in the chair reclined Porsche 356. When I returned to the pits midway through the gray morning following Rennabteilung I learned that he had retired from competition at midnight. Headed back to alternative paths, and a gravel road in the countryside with gala and went skidding into the ditch. Excellent card professional, two test cars, and two consecutive Slap.
Presseabteilung offered me, besides accumulating practice in the profession at the highest level, not confessed yet another possibility: to delve into the recesses of the office to collect historical material. Ronald Hansen planned to write a book about the business of Mercedes-Benz in major international races, but behind the scenes. Sniffing and tracking, one day I discovered several dossiers and correspondence relating to the powers in the Coastal and mechanical problems affecting the W 154 / M 163, Fangio, Kling and Lang. This episode had been forgotten, and I could then rebuild the real problems that caused the debacle of the German team against the Ferrari of Froilan Gonzalez at the Grand Prix Juan Domingo Peron, held on February 18, 1951. The downside came midway through the first race for reasons of Surging fuel or fuel outbreak, in plain, drowning the carburetors. The team from here in Extensis telephoned and telegraphed to Untertürkheim to reach a conclusion, closing one of the cables as lapidary as pathetic words: "Wir sind ratlos." A brutal and simple confession: "I do not know what to do."
Among the various powers of calendar 1955 (Great Britain, Belgium, Holland) played as a special event Grand Prix of Italy. It was an important event because it not only meant for Silberpfeil
mouthed wolf (Maserati, Ferrari, Lancia), but because authorities Speedway Monza track had decided to modify the building a banked curve as previously had been another. Since the track and became the fastest to be replaced by the horizontal parabolic banked, it was decided to try his luck again with a full aerodynamic body. Gordini also introduced a streamlined version, but with much smaller engine and therefore no chance. To further speed up communication between Stuttgart and Monza, the engineer Rudolf Uhlenhaut had built a very attractive truck, nice lines "aerodynamic" and the engine of a Mercedes-Benz W 300 S to take and bring vehicles between the two points.
Laura Ingraham: 'Move This Mosque'
Ingraham, who said "I like what you're trying to do" to a co-founder of the proposed Park51 center in December (on Fox News nonetheless), led off the "Factor" with a "Talking Points Memo" about religious freedom and hypocrisy among the elites.
Ingraham's main point? That elites in America only honor the religious freedom of Muslims or other minority groups at the expense of the majority of Americans.
"Why for so many elites does the obligation of religious tolerance and sensitivity cut only one way?" she asked. "They're so obsessed about appearing tolerant towards Islam that they end up offending the majority of Americans who come from the Judeo-Christian tradition."
Ingraham argued that "the double standard is everywhere," saying that New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg — who's come out in favor of Park51 — "equivocated when asked about whether he supported lighting the Empire State Building in honor of Mother Teresa's 100th birthday."
At the time, Bloomberg urged the building to "listen to the public" in deciding whether it was appropriate.
"If only he were this solicitous on the mosque question," Ingraham said.
"Religious tolerance is a cherished American value," she concluded. "But public officials need to understand that religious tolerance is a two-way street. Muslims in New York and beyond need to demonstrate their own sensitivity by moving this mosque."

R's on the Road To.......... Derby County.
On Saturday the travelling R's support and the Lofty Heights crew travel up the M1 to Derby in what has been a happy hunting ground for the Superhoops over the past few years.
Rangers' have enjoyed a 100% start to the season and the question is can they continue the best start to a season in over 60 years against a Derby side that have won one and lost two of their opening three games of the league campaign.
Here's a few pointers for your journey to Pride Park.
The Stadium.
Current Capacity - 33,597
Pride Park has been the home of Derby County since 1997 having been at home at The Baseball Ground since 1895.
Each of Derby’s three homes, including their first home The Racecourse Ground, have hosted a full International. The Racecourse Ground hosted the England 9 Ireland 0 victory in 1895, The Baseball Ground was host to the England 2 Ireland 1 victory in 1911 and Pride Park graced the England 4 Mexico 0 match.
Derby’s most successful manager is the legendary Brain Clough. He managed to lead the club to the Division 2 title in 1969 and the Division 1 title in 1972. He also won two other smaller competitions with the club, The Watney Cup in 1971 and The Texaco Cup in 1972. He left the club in 1973 to manage Brighton and then Leeds in 1974 before taking over at bitter rivals Nottingham Forest in 1975. The A52, which separates Derby from Nottingham, has been named ‘Brian Clough Way’ in appreciation for his efforts at both clubs during his spells there.
The History between the teams.
At Derby County (22)
Derby 10
QPR 7

Last seasons trip to Pride Park was certainly a memorable one! It was live on BBC 2 at the end of the R's 'Goal-den October', we were even given free t-shirts on our seats that would only fit the slightest of Rangers fans, not people of the fuller figure like the people in the Lofty Heights gang do.
A clever quick free kick from Robbie Savage allowed Paul Dickov to sneak in behind the R's defence and slot home to give Derby a 10th minute lead. Worse was to follow as Savage took a free kick just outside the R's penalty area and delightly curled it into the top corner to give the hosts a somewhat fortune two goal advantage with ten minutes of the half left to play.
With five minutes of the half left to play it was Adel Taarabt's turn to try his luck with a free kick and managed to find the bottom corner with a superb curling free kick around the wall into the bottom corner and giving the R's a glimmer of hope going into the half time interval.
In the second half Rangers' came out all guns blazing and totally dominated proceedings and bossed it from the start and within two minutes of the restart the game was a level contest as Gavin Mahon tapped home a fantastic passing move from the visitors.
On the hour mark the R's took the lead for the first tome as Simpson coolly slid the ball home from ten yards when under pressure from the Derby defender.
The rout was complete when Akos Buzsaky hammered home a 90th minute penalty after Wayne Routledge had been fouled in the area.
It was a memorable day for the travelling fans and a great comeback witnessed on tv and made people stand up and take us seriously...... until the season fell apart just months later.
How to get there.
By Car: - The sat nav postcode for today is DE24 8XL.
Follow the M1 up to junction 25 and take the left onto the A52 towards Derby. 7 miles down the A52 you will have the ground signposted all the way for the rest of the journey.
Parking can be a tad tricky. On my last visit there was a little secluded area of parking just before Pride Park but I’m not aware if this is still available so instead I would point you in the direction of the cattle market which is a 15 minute walk from Pride Park or you can always park at the Derby Conference Centre for £5.
By Train: - The ground is roughly a ten minute walk from the station and I will do my best to give you directions from here. As you get off the platform go up the stairs, turn right and walk to the end of the bridge. Go down the stairs, exit and turn right down Roundhouse Road. Bear left at the roundabout, go straight down Riverside Road or turn right and go down Pride Parkway. You will approach the ground straight ahead of you.
Pubs 'n' Grub.
The best place for Rangers fans to drink is the Harvester just around the corner from the ground. It is very friendly in there and I have never encountered any trouble there on previous visits.
For food you could use the Harvester or alternatively there is a Frankie and Benny’s, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, KFC, Burger King and Subway not far from here.
Available on the concourse are a selection of Pies and Pasties all at £2.60, Cheeseburgers (£3.50), Burgers (£3) and Hot dogs (£3). They also offer a Pie & Pint for £5.50.

The terror at the heart of a tornado
On May 28, 2008, a funnel touched down in the farm fields of central Iowa. Within minutes it grew into a massive, mile-wide monster. Damage surveys would later determine that the tornado was an EF5, the most powerful type of tornado, capable of reducing rows of well-constructed homes down to bare foundations. It roared through rural farmland for several miles before then heading due east towards the small town of Parkersburg.
Surveillance cameras were rolling at the First State Bank building in Parkersburg, a little before 5pm that Sunday. One exterior camera, used to record an outdoor ATM, showed calm weather only 20 seconds before the town was obliterated. What the camera captured next is nothing short of a nightmare.
Only three weeks before the Parkersburg event, surveillance camera's at an equipment company outside of Leighton, Alabama captured an EF2 tornado as it tore through a parking lot. The tornado touched down only seconds before it came into frame and contained an embedded suction spot powerful enough to toss several cars and trucks into the air.

What Is Difference Between Immobiliser And Icats
R's in heaven with Hel.
This weekends game against Scunthorpe looked like an easy enough encounter on paper and after seeing previous performances against Barnsley and Sheffield United it was one of those game where anything less than three points would've been looked at as two points dropped, but as Rangers' as we know them this had the potential to be a banana skin. Here is the Lofty Heights round up of how we saw things at Loftus Road yesterday.
After arriving in W12 earlier than usual, Sam, Jo B and I made our way to the ground to meet up with Matt for a quick pre match chat and get a general feeling on how we thought the result was going to go before Matt had to return to his duties and we moved onto the Springbok after bumping into Michael and Fiona with young son Luke and then meeting Big T and Alan we moved onto the pub for a swift half or two.
The group then arrived bit by bit as Lofty, PK, Corp and Jenson arrived and we got up to near full strength as for this occasion we were missed California Hoop in the stands today. A few old faces from previous years were also at the Springbok as Deano, Perry and Kempy were in attendance once again, was good to catch up with the old crew.
Just one change was made to last weeks stunning first half demolition job of Sheffield United as Fitz Hall sat out owing to his hamstring injury, Matt Connolly took the honours in the centre back position.
As Hall was out injured that meant we needed a stand in captain. Most of us expected Shaun Derry to be given the armband but that wasn't to be the case as Adel Taarabt was given the honours and it raised a few eyebrows and wondered if this would bring out the best in our midfield maestro..... all was about to be revealed.
Rangers' came out of the traps the quicker of the two sides and looked the more lively and better attacking force out of the two teams on show. When Taarabt had a superb curling free kick turned around the post by Joe Murphy in the Scunthorpe goal on the ten minute mark, you just got the feeling that a goal wasn't far away.
Just 7 minutes later and the opening goal was scored.
Taarabt's corner found Bradley Orr unmarked on the penalty spot and the right back steered his header into the far corner to give the summer signing his first (of hopefully many) Rangers' goal since joining from Bristol City.
Just past the mid way point of the half Taarabt played a superb ball with the outside of his boot out to Orr on the right hand side and the cross was equally impressive as the ball was played deep to the advancing Helguson but his header was straight at Murphy from close range and the Scunny stopper pulled off a great save.
Taarabt looked to be enjoying himself out there with the added responsibility and on many occasions was putting in added effort, at one point I'm sure I saw him at left back to start up another Rangers' attack. The Moroccan was having another fantastic game and was driving the R's forward, so much so that once again Taarabt was the provider for the second goal of the afternoon.
Taarabt once again played a beautiful lofted ball with the outside of his boot and over the last defender to find Helguson who in turn chested the ball down and then lifted the ball over Murphy and all but end the game as a contest.
Just before the break it seemed as if Rangers' had won the chance to score a third as Taarabt was once again causing all sorts of trouble in the Scunny defence and was tripped just inside the box and the referee pointed to the point much to the delight of the R's faithful......... only to reverse his decision and then book Taarabt for diving, very very strange decision making.
For the majority of half time I was on the phone so missed out on everything that was spoken about so unfortunately I can't provide much info here so I shall crack on with the second half.
Scunthorpe came out for the second half looking to reduce the arrears and when Woolford swung a free kick in towards Paddy Kenny's bottom corner the R's number one had to be alert to turn the ball around the post for a corner.
Shaun Derry then tried to get in on the act as his charge from midfield saw him on the edge of the box with a great shooting opportunity but unfortunately the finish just wasn't there as Murphy gathered the ball quite comfortably.
Rangers' then had their best chance of the half as Kaspers Gorkss saw his header, from Taarabt's free kick, loop over Murphy but agongizingly saw the ball hit the top of the crossbar and out to safety.
Rangers' then piled on the pressure and when Hogan put in a deep cross to Helguson all on his own at the far post you thought that number three was on it's way, unfortunately Helguson probably had too much time to think about it and ended up glancing the header wide, glorious chance spurned.
When you thought chances didnt get any easier they did, again it was Hogan down the left side that rolled the ball across to Helguson, who had two defenders sliding in to block him, the ball bobbled just in front of the R's frontman and his side foot into the empty net flew high over the crossbar.
On 74 minutes Taarabt made way for Akos Buzsaky and the Hungarian was into action with his first touches. His curling shot from the edge of the box was destined for the top corner but somehow Murphy got his fingertips to it and tipped it over for a corner.
In the final moments of the game Faurlin showed some brilliant skill as he won a header and then played a little bit of keepy uppy before thumping a volley towards the top corner but it deflected off a Scunthorpe defender..... goal kick??? You figure that one out!
Another great performance by the R's today with plenty of people out there performing and there are plenty of unsung heroes coming out of that game and they will be mentioned during our man of the match awards. If the R's can continue playing this way and creating the chances that they do then we can hope for another positive result away at Derby next week.
It was also good to hear the R's faithful in good voice once again and also sticking by Heidar Helguson after his misses, who knows what the reaction would've been like had the game been at 0-0. Hopefully we will stay behind him and as his confidence grows we will see him banging in a few more goals this season.
On to the Man of the Match. The undoubted winner of this should go to Joe Murphy in the Scunthorpe goal as we was just superb, however with us being a Rangers' blog we must choose a QPR man of the match. We all voted for this whilst we were stood outside The Queen and even had some added input from Nik at this time, the nominees are.... Bradley Orr, Matt Connolly, Shaun Derry, Alejandro Faurlin, Adel Taarabt but the winner with two votes for his hard working display and never say die attitude is..... Jamie Mackie.
QPR: Kenny, Orr, Hill, Derry (Leigertwood 87), Taarabt (Buzsaky 74), Helguson (German 90), Faurlin, Mackie, Gorkss, Connolly, Ephraim.
Subs: Cerny, Clarke, Ramage, Parker.
Goals: Orr (17), Helguson (41)
Bookings: Taarabt (43)
Scunthorpe United: Murphy, McNulty (Byrne 82), Togwell, Woolford (Grant 76), O'Connor, Dagnall, Raynes, Forte, Wright, Nolan, Canavan.
Subs: Slocombe, Wright, Collins, McClenahan.
Referee: Mr G Salisbury
Attendance: 12, 046

Aboard Russian Billionaire Andrey Melnichencko's $300 Million Yacht
Designed by the legendary French designer, Phillipe Starck, the "A" features luxuries most of us can hardly dream up, like a glass-bottomed pool built atop a disco or a plush room with walls covered in stingray hides.
Among other absurdities, the ship has a $60,000 bannister, a master bedroom that opens only to a fingerprint and a secret room designated specifically for "nookie," which any owner of a ship like this surely has no shortage of.
Check out the Wall Street Journal's exclusive tour of Andrey Melnichencko's famous yacht below:
When Does The Cervix Close Before Period
Although not mentioned in his book "32,000 Miles of Adventure" (Buenos Aires 1930, 270 pp.), brothers Adam and Andrew Stoessel was inspired to his trip to America in the raid Aimé Tschiffely with Gato and Mancha, the Swiss-English began in April 1925 in Buenos Aires and ended three years later in Washington.
What does stand out, and this shows the Stoessel visionaries is that they seek to signal future directions for the Pan American Highway, it would end up taking final form only in the early '40s.
'28 Chevrolet With a brand new left hand drive (unusual because in Argentina was circulated on the left and then all the cars had right direction) began the long journey in his hometown Arroyo Short, among Pigué and Coronel Suárez, at 8 pm on April 15, 1928. After passing through Buenos Aires, Rosario, Cordoba, Santiago and Tucuman largely using farm roads as there were no roads or paths, arriving in Salta on 30 after the first great quagmire of 23 hours by rain.

Prove more successful then the Quebrada del Toro, where the roads were excellent as were the service Huaytiquina FC. Passing through the borate deposits of the Salinas Grandes de Jujuy do not see no sign of footprints or impressions not car tires. "An Indian who was sitting at the door of a miserable hut, could not tell, because they do not know a word of English, and not even realized the scope of our questions in spite of our expressive gestures," until "finally, jubilant Adam shows us a trail of rubber on the soft earth, "to the Indian showed them the soles of his sandals made from a piece of cover car.

Similarly to Tschiffely, spend periods of famine and the Indians refuse to sell animals, they have to eat eggs sometimes. "We could not, of course, let us die of hunger in the midst of the mountain, and it was therefore necessary to put away his revolver to demand that sell us what we asked." A violent snowstorm makes almost die in the mountains.
In the Peruvian Andes (as in other sites too) were out of gas and had to walk several days to procure fuel in drums. They are surprised that the Chinese restaurants "not quoted the value of the food but also of the dishes that contain them, charging ten cents a smooth plate, fifteen by one striped and 20 for flowers."
In Lima , however, they had run out of funds. Lima acted providentially in those days the company Argentina's theatrical circus Segundo Pomar, a businessman who organized a benefit performance of Stoessel. In Lima, there are many weeks, for lack of money and because they fell in love with several beautiful Lima. Repeated romances lived in several cities and thus lost (or gained) long. To all this his mechanic Carlos Diaz decided to stay working in the city of the viceroys an excellent job offer he received as head of a workshop.

They estimated they spent 6,000 gallons of gasoline, which seems much because if you traveled 32,000 kilometers is clearly excessive consumption of almost one-liter x mile. Instead it is likely to have broken 43 tires (tires).
The May 6, 1930, after 25 months of travel, arrived in New York. In Detroit, GM made them a great reception, leaving his car in the Chevrolet museum. One of the great feats of the car had been written by Argentines.

Colombia Plane Crash: Aires Passenger Dies When Lightning Strikes Plane
According to CNN, the plane split apart following the lightning strike. The Aviation Herald claims that the plane broke into three chunks, and has a photograph of the airplane.
The number of passengers on board the flight vary according to different reports, but it is believed to be between 121 and 131 people. Scroll down for a video report, as well as more from the AP.
AP:
BOGOTA, Colombia -- A Boeing 737 jetliner filled with vacationers crashed in a thunderstorm and broke apart as it slid onto the runway on a Caribbean island Monday. Only one of the 131 people on board died, and the island's governor called it a miracle. The plane hit short of the runway on Colombia's San Andres Island and skidded on its belly as the fuselage fractured and bits of landing gear and at least one engine were ripped off. The jet wound up on one end of the runway, crumpled and in pieces, as passengers scrambled or were helped to safety.
Officials were investigating reports the Aires airline jet was hit by lightning before the crash on the resort island, Colombian air force Col. David Barrero said. He said other possible causes were being investigated as well.
Of the 125 passengers and six crew members aboard Aires Flight 8520, the only one killed was a 68-year-old woman, Amar Fernandez de Barreto, San Andres Gov. Pedro Gallardo said.
"It was a miracle and we have to give thanks to God," Gallardo said.
Officials said 119 people were treated or checked at clinics and five of them were seriously injured. The airline said at least five U.S. citizens were on the plane, and the U.S. Embassy in Colombia confirmed at least four Americans suffered injuries and were receiving care.
Airline representative Erika Zarante said four Brazilians, two Germans, two Costa Ricans and two French citizens also were on the plane.
The accident occurred so suddenly that the pilot did not report an emergency to the control tower, said Col. Donald Tascon, deputy director of the civil aeronautics agency. He said the plane's low altitude as it prepared to land - perhaps 100 feet (30 meters) just before the crash - may have averted worse damage.
Passenger Ricardo Ramirez, a vacationing civil engineer, told Caracol Radio that all had seemed normal, even though the plane was flying through a storm, with flashes of lightning, as it neared the airport.
"The plane was coming in perfectly. We were just about to land, everything was under control," he said. The accident "appeared out of nowhere."
After the plane hit and skidded to a stop on the pavement, Ramirez said he struggled to free himself and his wife from their seat belts.
"We tried to get out of the plane because the plane was starting to shoot flames," he said. "In a few minutes, a police patrol arrived and helped us."
Survival was "a miracle of God. Thanks to God we are alive," Ramirez said, though his wife suffered a dislocated shoulder.
Firefighters quickly doused the beginnings of a fire on a wing, police Gen. Orlando Paez said. He a group of police officers who were waiting at the airport for the plane to fly them back to the mainland aided in rescuing victims.
Barrero, commander of the Colombian air force's Caribbean Air Group, said by telephone from San Andres that "the skill of the pilot kept the plane from colliding with the airport."
He said the cause of the accident was uncertain. "You can't speculate. Lightning? A gust of wind? The investigation will say," Barrero said.
The jet crashed at 1:49 a.m. on the island, a resort area of 78,000 people about 120 miles (190 kilometers) east of the Nicaraguan coast.
Ninety-nine passengers were taken to Amor de Patria Hospital on San Andres, said Dr. Robert Sanchez, the hospital director. "It's incredible. For the dimension (of the accident), there should be more," he said.
Sanchez said an initial examination indicated that the single fatality may have been caused by a heart attack.
Twenty other passengers were treated at another clinic, according to the national civil aviation agency.
Among the seriously injured was a 12-year-old girl who suffered a broken pelvis, Gallardo said.
A 1- 1/2-year-old boy among the passengers wasn't listed among those with serious injuries.
Dr. Ricardo Villarreal, director of the clinic of the same name, said the pilot suffered some cuts to his face and was under observation. He identified him as Wilson Gutierrez.
The airline, Aerovias de Integracion Regional SA, said it has about 20 planes, including 10 Boeing 737-700 jets. It said in a Twitter posting that it was "working and investigating with the aeronautical authorities to determine the causes."
Barrero said scattered pieces of the plane blocked part of the 7,800-foot (2,380-meter) runway. But enough was usable that air ambulances would be able to land, he said.
(This version CORRECTS that airline uses Boeing 737-700s instead of 737-100s.)

Blades Cut to Size by Impressive R's...
Sheffield United 0-3 QPR
Welcome back to part two of this weekend's report on QPR's impressive 3-0 win at Bramall Lane. Apologies of course for it's lateness, but after being asked by Lee to write this weeks report, I forgot initially I had a 40th party to attend when I got back, in which much fun was had. Amazing what having a few pints on the back of a good win will do to ones mood. As for Lee, well, let's just say, he was a bit busy himself this weekend...
Well, what a day this turned out to be - myself, Lee, Jenson and PK hit the M1 at just after 10.30 and had a relatively easy journey of which the traditional prediction competition returned, more on that later.
On previous visits to Bramall Lane, myself and PK have found a top parking spot and a quiet little deli/cafe/bar called 'HELLAS' to enjoy some pre match food and drink, to which we raved to Lee and Jenson on route about. How typical that the parking spot had suddenly become more popular and the quiet Hellas was somewhat less than quiet. So, after a quick Peroni, we made our way to the Stadium and as you all know by now,the pre match was all that was to go wrong today...
During the journey and indeed, the prediction contest, it seemed myself and PK were the only ones predicting a cheeky Rangers win, but the general concensus was that we would all take a draw. I am going to cheat now and recap the match with Lee's report put together on the journey back...
Rangers simply blew away the Blades with a superb opening 25 minutes and put the game to bed in the blink of an eye.
Hogan Ephraim opened the scoring after Adel Taarabt had thread him in with a fantastic through ball and set the little winger clear, Hogan coolly slotted past Simonsen when one on one with the Blades 'keeper.
Within five minutes it was 2-0. Some good build up play between Taarabt and Hogan saw the latter play a perfectly flighted deep cross for Jamie Mackie to the back post and he was more than happy to nod home from close range and celebrate in front of the travelling support.
Then the dream really did become reality as Heidar Helguson turned his marker and was brought down by Simonsen and the referee had no option but to point to the spot. After a little bit of arguing between Taarabt and Helguson it was Taarabt that took the ball, placed it on the spot and put the penalty away with such confidence and put Rangers' 3-0 ahead with only 25minutes played!
A slightly more calm second half was to follow and chances were hard to come by but more importantly a clean sheet was kept and another three points were in the bag.
At the final whistle, the Blades fans were extremely disgruntled and made their voices heard, even more so than earlier in the day when they welcomed back ex keeper, Paddy Kenny. In talking with a few Blades fans after the game, it seemed the blame was pointed solely at Manager, Kevin Blackwell who, maybe not surprisingly, left the Club by mutual consent shortly after the final whistle.
QPR: Kenny, Orr, Hill, Derry, Hall (Ramage 50), Taarabt (Clarke 69), Helguson, Faurlin, Mackie, Gorkss, Ephraim (Leigertwood 82). Subs: Cerny, Connolly, German, Parker.
Lofty's Man of the Match - again, so many to choose from and a long discussion amongst the boys saw Kaspars Gorkss, Heidar Helguson, Adel Taarabt, Jamie Mackie and my own choice, Sean Derry recieve plenty of plaudits. But this weeks award goes to the one player who was praised by all of us, scored one and made the second - Hogan Ephraim
Well, journeys home after a result and performance like that of yesterdays, are certainly more pleasurable and it also brought the first predition result of the season, with a familiar result. Let me just say, that as, jokingly, foul play was brought up on more than one occasion last season, Lee left the organising of the contest to myself and Jenson, so it was with no doubt even more satisfying for my co editor that he claimed the £20 prize money once more. PK however, lived up to his billing that our own Adel Taarabt has given him of 'knowing nothing', sadly came last.
See you all next Saturday vs Scunthorpe at Loftus Road...

Reports on the way home suggest that Kevin Blackwell has left his post as manager of Sheffield United.
A full report will follow in the next day or two as Lofty returns to the keyboard for the first (of hopefully many) time this season and will fill you in on our adventures over the course of the day.
Steven Slater VIDEO! JetBlue Flight Attendant Footage Surfaces
While it may not be nearly as exciting as seeing a cartoon Slater grab some beers and run into the waiting arms of his lover, posting this video at the end of the day Friday seems like a perfect way to round out the whole saga.
Maybe next week a fireman will quit on the job and slide down the truck's ladder from atop a burning building!

What Is The Toilet Paper Roll Test
Chronicle Argentina Grand Prix 1953, marked by tragedy, and which succeeded Alberto Ascari.
afternoon it appeared Alberto Ascari at the Autodromo Municipal "October 17" for their first training session to learn about a track that would lead first to the fourth round will we registered a time of 1m50s. There we had an index of their capacity and for Ferrari. In a new session failed to establish 1m49s, and Juan Manuel Fangio, the Maserati 1m49s1/10 command.
The difference was minimal, but the Balcarce told us that "had given everything." Was admissible in evidence classification, and perhaps in the race, if the struggle required it, was likely to Maserati lowered the time, but accepted that that machine Fangio was near the limit.
's afternoon qualifying lap was not possible to those days of practice because rain prevented it.
began to roll the machines to more than two minutes, but so rain dwindled and the track was drying up in part-time gradually decreased. The 1m55s4/10 of Arcari (Ferrari) was the best, followed by Fangio (Maserati), 1m56s1; Villoresi (Ferrari) 1m56s5, Farina (Ferrari) 1m57s1, Gonzalez (Maserati) 1m58s5, Hawthorn (Ferrari) 1m59s4, Trintignant ( Gordini) 2m00s4, Manzon (Gordini) 2m00s9, Gálvez (Maserati) 2m01s3, Menditeguy (Gordini) 2m02s6, Brown (Cooper Bristol) 2m03s7, Schwelm Cruz (Cooper Bristol) 2m03s7, Birger (Simca Gordini 1.5) 2m03s8, Bonetto (Maserati) 2m04s2 and Barber (Cooper Bristol) 2m06s8.
Little did we say these days and they were subject to when they started out as the rain stopped and then raging, and was hit for the moment when the track was under puddles and high fall less water. Serve only to set the starting order, and it determined that the first line was Ascari Fangio with rope, and "tight" on the other side by Villoresi and Farina. The latter made test with the machine because his Hawthorn was wrong, to the point that the engine was changed for the day of competition and Farina had to walk the first lap with the caution that is a "squishy."
Say something about the machines. The Ferrari has four cylinders and an output range of 190 HP at a speed of 6,800 rpm. Its weight, without pilot walks through the 610 kg The Maserati have six-cylinder engines and power similar to the Ferrari but at a speed of 7,500 revolutions per minute. Your weight fluctuates in the 580 kg The Gordini have six-cylinder engine, weight of 540 kg and can reach 160 HP at a rate of 6,000. The Cooper Bristol also have six-cylinder engines, a weight of 508 kg and a power of 130 HP. The leading Birger Gordini Simca is one of the known for us with four-cylinder engine and a rated power of 110 HP. These data are not specific, because there are always secrets and is very difficult to know exactly, especially with respect to the Ferrari and Maserati. As we accept, always "hide" something. The reader must take as approximate, and if anyone is in the hands of others, we have also collected various reports.
In training sessions we had the impression that Ferrari went very well and that he had Ascari 1m49s significant margin. Both Fangio and Gonzalez agreed that they were fastest when they saw in Europe last season and reportedly obtained it was due in part to decreased weight about 70 kilos, while the Maserati increased by about 30 to strengthen chassis in the rear. Onofre Marimon informed us that he seemed to see the Ferrari with more reaction to the exit of corners. All this led us to accept that they were the most qualified.
arrived to our country more lightweight and had suffered only one defeat in Europe in the fourth Grand Prix of France in Reims verified and youthful vigor to the Jean Behra in command of a Gordini. In the Monza test was at the forefront Gonzalez with the Maserati losing accumulated in the fight when he stopped in the pits to refuel.
In this competition the Ferrari came under full load in order not to stop for refills. In the preliminaries had set a time of 2m05s4 Ascari, in the race lap record was matched between the champion and 2m06s1 González. That is, when the charge consumption shrank by Ferrari came at the speed of the Maserati. The third time corresponded to Monza with Manzon Gordini: 2m06s4.
You can add other background and record in Modena Gonzalez was about to beat the Ferrari, but to be "plugged" in the Villoresi last round lost to by just 4 / 5 of a second arrival memorable. But as we said, it was agreed that Ferrari came to our country more rapidly, without thereby losing efficiency, which was amply demonstrated by the performance that accounted for at the racetrack. Only one machine was, and the accident to Faris, is, not attributable to the performance of it.
The other three came in the top rankings and only they "snuck" Gonzalez, due to their ability and tenacity without limits. "I thought not to stop once and I had to stop four times," he said after the race. The arrests, except one for tire change, was due to mechanical problems. According to their statements at the beginning is joined on the grid paper subtracting air to the radiator and cause overheating. That, and the intensity of the fight when struggling to get the second place, determined that the machine lifted Froilan much temperature and was forced to abandon that contention and stay in third place.
González
By setting the lap record in the 64 th with 1m48s7, immediately Ascari was ordered to go for the record, and was so made 1m48s6 in the 68 th, and after the 73 th 1m48s4. Without getting into comparisons of leaflets, we by force refer to the situation of chasing González Villoresi in this battle for second place. If Gigi was a star and still is an excellent conductor, the truth is that years and blows his ardor that dwindled. However that could withstand the hit from Gonzalez and to distance themselves, following the signs which it was sent from his position. It was not, then, a comparison of men only, but more than that machine. Good times achieved by Fangio and Gonzalez emerged thanks to the tremendous effort of them obtained by the Ferrari drivers, while recognizing the virtues of them, among which is the champion, were conquered with less effort.
is the impression we had already before the race, which was confirmed in its development with the smooth functioning of the Ferrari. At a time when Farina had placed third behind Fangio can see progress in the columns of partial complete these reviews. With motor still soften somewhat in Balcarce approached and stood there expectantly until the time of his defection. The efforts of Juan Manuel (which exceeded all expectations with respect to fitness after such a long absence) failed to catch up with Ascari and immediately get away from his pursuer. It is another detail that we offered in the match race between the two machines makes candidates more directly to victory.
If at any time, and then all of detention alternatives, Manzon came to be the second that confirms what we stated in the Gordini. Had to change rear tires and lost the French post of honor. Later in the 68th, he ran a wheel and was able to stabilize your machine Manzon with visible effort and ample demonstration of his gifts as conductor. A wheel, a straw that breaks, a differential that fails, none of that happened to Ferrari. Is that the long experience of a technical organization that has 25 years of struggle agree to these results, do not run a car for details. Because a machine is not only an engine, is a set. We do not know if Ferrari's competitors could break the granite fortress of a technical organization as experienced. It seems difficult at the moment, and that could determine the global motorsport look very hurt by the dominance of the home victorious.
Time will tell. For now, we almost dare to say that the first test score for the Ferrari World Championship has already conquered. Certainly there is plenty to go yet, but the demonstration of technical efficiency along with excellent drivers, including Ascari is an induce to look at things in a way. It was, therefore, a suit of men but, more than anything, machines, although in the case of victor's just acknowledge that it has reached the ideal combination, man and machine. The formula of success in motorsport, so exposed to all mechanical contingencies, was present in our Autodromo.
If the Maserati could not match the line of his direct opponents, if Gordini, in particular that of Manzon, was for one thing, the less modest aspirations Bristol Cooper had with their low power. These British machines, which are originally the German BMW that we met here in such sport, have not improved in proportion to the years. Are the same for almost 20 years and think it is fair that they should have seen the progress that corresponds to the two decades of extreme acceleration mechanics.
First arrest of Jose Froilan Gonzalez for a disadvantage in motor remedied shortly. This will have to add three more, losing second place
Froilan As we have seen in them, and what we know about the power that reaches to 130 HP, the truth is they can not compete with other brands attendance and who have remained stagnant while the whole world motorsport has flown more than running. The excitement, therefore, was in pursuit of Juan Manuel Fangio in second until lap 36 to finish third and cross the line to start the 37 th the machine stopped.
Prior to that, and from the beginning, warned that its differential Fangio was wrong, but continued because circumstances demanded it until we saw jumping differential gears. That is the truth, jumped to the pits. Until then, we repeat, Juan Manuel had overcome his own physical condition with a will and boundless enthusiasm. What he accomplished is up to you. The machine was not answered to the extent of his hopes and ours. The same can be said of Gonzalez in terms his career, with all the disadvantages that mean four arrests, though brief. We subtract one, tire change, because it also did the same who preceded him. It is possible to say that Gonzalez ran more than the Maserati, and that he 1m48s7 tore it tooth and nail clipped to the circuit.
Behind him stood the promise he represents Michael Hawhtorn, the 23 year old Englishman months ago, in a letter from our friend Juan Carlos Guzzi, asked us to write down that name among the most outstanding flying the new generation. For the first time led a special machine and it was here in the race that comment.
He did very well, and it is more than a promise, and took a step forward. Engineering student, left the books to follow the course set by his vocation. Can be quite pleased with what has been done and we welcome and we also remember as a promise contained in our pages for some time thanks to the correspondence of the friend mentioned above. Hawthorn
preceded Oscar Galvez, who made the race I could. " Without adaptation to the machine, was significantly improved as the trial unfolded. I had already mentioned, it is not easy to jump from a road car, which dominates, with which the steering wheel has "grown up" and appear as overnight to be a pistard. Is another weight, another volume, another power, a different braking, a multitude of details and setting machine which require a long time to adapt, because Oscar needs to "wean" his own and get used to the new.
would need to continue competing in track, which is what they asked Fangio, Gonzalez and the people of the Maserati, but Gálvez not very determined to go to Europe and continued. Awaiting the outcome of these races to decide. That is why adjusted to better behavior, serenity, wisdom, without any rush that might be detrimental to him and the machine. If some addicts his thought on the possibility of a victory that would have meant a miracle in the case of normal race. We believe that had an excellent performance. We have outdone three Ferrari and an experienced and capable as Gonzalez. This is "the balance" and a failure in the ignition.
Jean Behra was the one who was ahead of his team in the standings. Does not walk very well because this boy who was five years motorcyclist in his country and won championships, comes from the Carrera Panamericana, where he won the initial stage. The second road left to walk over 200 miles per hour. Fell off a cliff, with 14 vertical meters, and with a fortune extraordinary, since only broke three ribs, there was a wound on his forehead and nose injury. They had to do surgery cosmetic skin grafting of her arm. "But," we said, and someone expressed, "Is not that enough?".
Yes, I really was lucky because one can imagine what it means to fall from 14 meters high with a car that will walk a hundred times over. Preceded Trintignant, but this machine Schell directed in the last laps. And finally, the modest Cooper Bristol Barber and Brown. The latter was the who was ranked higher.
length 16 and arrived 9, Birger was the first to leave after their hard work by placing the motor in acceptable working condition. It is unacceptable that the team has brought that Gordini pints in the conditions under which arrived in the country. If it was poor little less powerful, it was for that was as sharp as possible.
Pablo Birger, his brother and many friends will worked hard to put in a position, but there was much to fix and there was neither time nor material to do so. And walked. Menditeguy had a malfunction in the box after having been at the forefront of them, and Schwelm Cross with Bristol Cooper, broke the tip of the shaft. Of the other defections have already spoken.
By now, therefore, has been the feeling of superiority manifested in the Ferrari and our impression of the effort made by Gonzalez and Fangio in the Maserati. Time will tell if they can approach those, and it will be during the European season. If the formula of success in motorsport is man and machine, the Ferrari had it and gave a strong step forward in the conquest of new title to which it aspires.
